Lorecast is a GPS-aware audio guide for road trips. As you drive, it narrates short, tour-guide-style stories about the place coming up ahead — bridges, diners, ghost towns, neon motels, the odd roadside thing you'd otherwise pass without a second look. Two narrators: Miles reads the documented...

As answered by people managing Lorecast and DUMMY DATABASE.
Lorecast's answer
Lorecast keeps fact and folklore apart. Every story is built only from cited open sources (Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap, the National Register of Historic Places and more), and the app shows those sources for each story. Documented history is marked as checked; legends are told as legends, clearly framed as lore and never stated as fact. If there is not enough credible material about a place, Lorecast simply skips it instead of making something up. Stories start automatically by GPS for the place ahead, so you can keep your eyes on the road.
DUMMY DATABASE's answer:
A free, all-in-one data generation platform that builds everything from simple tables to full relational databases with advanced controls, unique event sequences, ERD visualization, built-in SQL querying, and multiple export formats — no limits, no paywalls.
Lorecast's answer
Coverage and trust. Lorecast already narrates 8 regions — Route 66 end to end (1,750 places, 5,600+ stories), the Pacific Coast Highway, Las Vegas, Joshua Tree & Palm Springs, Utah's Mighty Five, the Florida Keys, Grand Canyon & Northern Arizona and Death Valley. Every story cites its sources and labels legend versus fact. Route 66 is free through the end of 2027, there is a free demo on every road, and paid passes never auto-renew — a pass simply ends. Roads can be saved for offline listening through dead zones.
DUMMY DATABASE's answer:
Unlike other data generators, DUMMY DATABASE gives you full relational database creation, unique event simulations, advanced control over every field, built-in SQL querying, and generous free limits — so you can go from idea to test-ready data without restrictions, subscriptions, or hidden fees
Lorecast's answer
Road trippers who want to know what they are driving past: Route 66 travelers, families on national-park loops, couples on coastal drives, RV travelers, and history and roadside-Americana fans who care that what they hear is accurate.

Lorecast's answer
Long drives pass hundreds of places — bridges, diners, ghost towns, neon motels — that most people never learn anything about. Lorecast was built to tell those stories the way a good local guide would, but strictly from documented sources, with legends kept clearly apart from history. It started with Route 66 for the road's 2026 centennial and grew to eight regions across the American West and Florida.
DUMMY DATABASE's answer:
Began as a project for myself to be able to have custom datasets for testing purpose I've decided that it could be useful for wider audience and finalized it as a full-stack web project
Lorecast's answer
Flutter (one codebase for iPhone and Android), Python with FastAPI on the backend, Uber's H3 geospatial index for finding the places ahead of the driver, MapLibre with our own OpenStreetMap-based vector tiles, and open data from Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, OpenStreetMap and the National Register of Historic Places.
DUMMY DATABASE's answer:
Python, Flask, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Redis, PostgreSQL, JavaScript
