Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing LocalHero.ai and Hashnode.

What makes your product unique?

LocalHero.ai's answer

LocalHero.ai lives in your development workflow. Translations happen automatically in your pull requests through GitHub Actions. No switching to translation platforms, no coordination overhead.

The thing is, when we translate new strings, we combine smart things like semantic similarity, your glossary and style guide to keep everything on brand. New translations stay consistent with how you've already translated similar content. We give you the right amount of automation: enough to ship fast, simple enough to stay in control.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

LocalHero.ai's answer

LocalHero is built for teams who've hit the limits of existing solutions. Here's what we do differently:

  • vs. Translation agencies: Ship in hours, not weeks. No more batching releases or splitting deployments because translations aren't ready.
  • vs. DIY with LLM APIs: We handle the workflow: context awareness, consistency checks, team collaboration. Build product, not translation infrastructure.
  • vs. Traditional platforms: Translations ship with your code. No context switching. Professional quality without slowing down your releases.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

LocalHero.ai's answer

Teams shipping 2-15 languages, where coordination is starting to hurt. Releases blocked waiting for translations. Features ready but can't ship. Often these are developers and product teams at startups or SaaS companies who want to stay in their workflow instead of managing translations in yet another platform.

What's the story behind your product?

LocalHero.ai's answer

I've been building internationalized products for years as a developer and founder. The pattern is many times the same: features ready to deploy, can't ship, waiting for translations across 7+ languages. Quality drifts. You ship English first, international markets weeks later. Agencies deliver quality but 1-2 week turnarounds kill velocity. Raw LLM APIs are cheap but you're building the workflow yourself. Internal ad-hoc work gets slow and messy.

I built LocalHero to skip the overhead. Our first customer started shipping in 9 languages before I'd even finished onboarding them. One of their teams couldn't wait for the official internal rollout.

The goal is to help teams ship faster internationally, get their feedback, and build the best solution for product teams that ship international.

  • Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026)
Working mostly on https://localhero.ai, automating i18n translations for product teams (runs as a GitHub Action, translates new strings on PRs matching your brand voice and glossary). Got a new paying customer just now, a pretty big Swedish company, been working closely with the team to add an improved review flow to match their needs. Most interesting work this month came from a customer in Japan who wanted... - Source: Hacker News / 26 days ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (May 2026)
Mainly working on https://localhero.ai, automating i18n translations for product teams. Basically runs as a GitHub Action, translating new strings on PRs matching your brand voice and glossary. Got our first fully selfserve customer a few weeks back (found us through the docs). Interesting work lately has been improving how the system learns from manual edits, when someone tweaks a translation in the UI, it feeds... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Automating Translations With Your Coding Agent
It's not worth rebuilding this infrastructure for every project. Localhero.ai is what I decided to build, a translation service for real product teams, not translators. The core idea is that everything compounds: every translation you ship, every correction someone makes, every glossary term you add feeds into making the next translation better. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (March 2026)
Been working on https://localhero.ai, its my service to automate on-brand translations for product teams. I've been doing outreach to Swedish companies/people, getting some good interest from a few that want to automate their localization workflow but don't want the work of maintaining own solutions. Even though you can build a version working with coding agents these days, there is a lot of stuff around it to... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Ask HN: What are you working on? (Dec 2025)
Building https://localhero.ai, automated on-brand i18n translations that run in your CI pipeline. Right now I'm working on better .po/gettext support, based on feedback from an early customer. With gettext you usually keeps source strings in the actual source code. So I'm building a workflow where non-technical people (PMs, designers) can edit translations in the web UI and then easily generate a PR with both code... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago

So, let's say that you are writing a post on your website, but you also want to publish it on other platforms, like medium.com, dev.to or hashnode.com. There is no way you can compete with these domains in terms of domain authority. This means that, to Google, they are more valid sources of content then your small and less visited website. We looked into a few different providers including GitBook, Docusaurus, Hashnode, Fern and Mintlify. There were various factors in the decision but the TLDR is that while we manage our SDKs with Fern, we chose Mintlify for docs as it had the best writing experience, supported custom React components, and was more affordable for hosting on a custom domain.
