Https://lineageos.org/ There's a bunch of officially supported phones but most Android phones will have unofficial support also. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
I found myself in a similar situation and also started de-googling, which is much nicer and liberating than I was fearing. I did the exact same thing with Immich (what a great software, by the way!). And in case it helps: Instead of always relying on google maps, I now mostly use CoMaps (https://www.comaps.app/). Way better than using directly OpenStreetMap. And for my Pixel 7, I switched to LineageOS with gapps... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
I have used LineageOS [0] for a few years on my old phone, and last year I got a Pixel 4 and I am using Graphene on it. Both systems work well and I am really glad they exist; Graphene gets extra points for its extremely easy installation process. Unfortunately it seems Graphene is already phasing out support for the Pixel 4 [1], so I'll have to switch back to Lineage at some point. The only technical limitation I... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
LineageOS[0] (and/or other non-Google OS)+F-Droid[1] (and/or other third-party app stores) allow you to avoid Google altogether. Which is nothing new. Is that possible with IOS? I think not. [0] https://lineageos.org/ [1] https://f-droid.org/en/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
The ability to root my phone allowed me to customize it in ways I had never imagined. I found myself diving into the world of custom ROMs, experimenting with different operating systems for my device. CyanogenMod (now LineageOS) quickly became my favourite, offering a level of control and customization that felt almost magical. To flash these new systems, I had to install ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM), a process... - Source: dev.to / almost 2 years ago
Gluestack, like any other customizable UI library, is built to make styling less cumbersome. It comprises a set of themed and unstyled components easily integrated across different platforms and devices. Originally, Gluestack was a part of NativeBase, a component library for both React and React Native. With performance and maintainability in mind, NativeBase was split into two parts, focusing on a universal... - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
Just like the other libraries mentioned in this article, Gluestack is another unstyled component library. Originally a part of NativeBase, the developer team created this library to prevent bloat and enhance maintainability of the project. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
KumaUI : Another relatively new contender, Kuma uses zero runtime CSS-in-JS to create headless UI components which allows a lot of flexibility. It was heavily inspired by other zero runtime CSS-in-JS solutions such as PandaCSS, Vanilla Extract, and Linaria, as well as by Styled System, ChakraUI, and Native Base. ### ๏ปฟVue. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago

CSS-based UI libs don't make sense on mobile; your new options include NativeBase, React Native Elements and others). Some web-based UI libs do have RN siblings though - such as React Native Material and React Native Paper (for Material-UI), and tailwind-rn (for Tailwind). This just means new decisions to make, some learning, and new paradigms for how to use the new libs. - Source: dev.to / over 3 years ago
