LazyBinger turns your iPhone into a universal remote for 12 TV platforms โ€” Samsung, LG, Roku, Sony, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Google TV, Hisense, Panasonic, Philips, VIZIO and Chromecast. TVs on the same Wi-Fi are detected automatically โ€” no IP address to type, no infrared needed.

But LazyBinger does things a plastic remote โ€” and most remote apps โ€” can't:

  • Camera auto-pilot โ€” prop your iPhone facing the TV and it watches the screen and automatically presses "Skip Intro", "Skip Recap" and "Next Episode" for you. On a real TV, not just a browser.
  • Voice "magic words" โ€” say a phrase like "sleepy time" to run commands, even with the screen locked. Apple's engine listens in up to 3 languages at once; an optional on-device Whisper engine understands dozens.
  • Wake-on-LAN โ€” turn the TV back ON from across the room, not just off.
  • Sleep timer โ€” for any TV, including streaming boxes that don't ship one.

Private by design: everything runs locally over your own Wi-Fi. No account, no cloud, no ads, no tracking โ€” TV control stays on your network, and voice and camera are processed on the iPhone.

Free to use, with an optional Premium upgrade for the voice magic words and the camera auto-skip.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Lazy Binger and Vim Python IDE.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Lazy Binger's answer

A native iOS app (Swift / SwiftUI). TV discovery uses Bonjour, SSDP and network scanning; control uses each platform's native protocol. On-device intelligence powers the rest: Apple's Vision OCR for the camera auto-skip, and Apple Speech plus an on-device Whisper model for voice. Everything runs locally โ€” there's no backend server in the control path.

What's the story behind your product?

Lazy Binger's answer

LazyBinger started from pure laziness: losing the remote in the sheets and pressing "Skip Intro" every single episode. The idea was simple โ€” let the phone handle it. That grew into a camera that auto-skips intros, voice magic words you can mumble half-asleep, and a sleep timer that turns the TV off when you doze. It's the remote for horizontal people โ€” private, local and zero-friction.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Lazy Binger's answer

People who watch a lot of TV in bed or on the couch and want it effortless: cord-cutters and streamers tired of hunting for the remote and mashing "Skip Intro", households juggling several TV brands, and privacy-conscious users who don't want a remote app full of ads and sign-ups. iPhone owners on any of 12 TV platforms.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Lazy Binger's answer

Most remote apps stop at a basic D-pad, are ad-supported, and often need a cloud account. LazyBinger adds the things you actually feel every night โ€” auto-skipping intros, voice control, a sleep timer, and turning the TV back on โ€” while staying completely private: no account, no ads, no tracking, and all control on your local network. One app replaces the remote for 12 TV brands.

What makes your product unique?

Lazy Binger's answer

Three things no other iPhone remote app offers together: a camera "auto-pilot" that watches the TV and automatically skips intros and recaps for you (on a real TV, not just a browser), hands-free voice "magic words" that work with the screen locked, and Wake-on-LAN to turn the TV back on โ€” not just off. All across 12 TV platforms, 100% locally, with no account, no cloud and no ads.
