As answered by people managing Larkling and Cert Decoder.
Larkling's answer
Founded by Nye Hoppie after personally hitting the "pay to send a message to your ex" wall — finding that every reliable co-parenting tool locked basic communication behind a subscription, and that most assumed a traditional heterosexual divorced couple. Larkling was built to be genuinely free, warm, and inclusive of all families, with AI that de-escalates conflict rather than just recording it.
Cert Decoder's answer:
I built certdecoder.com over the weekend for my own needs. Sometimes in my work, I need to verify and check certificate details.
Larkling's answer
A progressive web app (PWA) that works in any browser. Backend on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with EU data storage in London (eu-west-2) for UK GDPR compliance. Served via Cloudflare Workers and Pages. AI Tone Coach built on LLM-based message rewriting. No native app required — installable on iOS and Android home screens.
Cert Decoder's answer:
certdecoder.com was built using just JavaScript and HTML—simple, fast, and with all processing happening locally in your browser, so no certificate data is sent to any server
Larkling's answer
Separated and divorcing co-parents — especially LGBTQ+, blended, single, donor-conceived and other family types that mainstream apps don't serve well. Also budget-conscious parents who need a reliable record of communication, schedules and expenses without paying per-parent subscription fees. Based in the UK and Europe, with a growing US user base.
Cert Decoder's answer:
certdecoder.com is primarily built for developers, sysadmins, cybersecurity enthusiasts, and DevOps engineers.
Larkling's answer
It's the only major co-parenting app that's genuinely free forever — no credit card, no trial, no hardship waiver to apply for. Most rivals went paid in 2026 (AppClose ended free Jan 1, TalkingParents Mar 30) or sit behind per-parent fees that double for two parents. Larkling includes an AI Tone Coach that rewrites hostile messages before you send (a feature rivals charge $30+/mo for), plus Solo Mode that keeps a reliable record even when your co-parent won't join — and it's built for every kind of family, not just the traditional divorced couple.
Cert Decoder's answer:
Simple, fast, and reliable. Some similar tools can’t even decode basic certificates. I rigorously tested my tool with many real-world certificates and covered several edge cases where competitors fall short.
Larkling's answer
Individual co-parenting families across the UK, Europe and US LGBTQ+ and blended families who need inclusive co-parenting tools Single co-parents using Solo Mode to keep a record when the other parent won't engage Family-law mediators and solicitors who recommend a reliable, low-cost record-keeping option Community and support organisations signposting free tools to separating parents
Cert Decoder's answer:
certdecoder.com is primarily built for developers, sysadmins, cybersecurity enthusiasts, and DevOps engineers.
Larkling's answer
Larkling is the only co-parenting app built from day one for ALL family structures — LGBTQ+ families, blended families, single parents by choice, and traditional families alike. Key differentiators: custom pronouns and flexible roles, Solo Mode that works even when the other parent refuses to join, AI Tone Coach that helps de-escalate hostile messages before they're sent, court-ready PDF Export Packs, and a genuinely free forever core with no trial bait.

Why? Because I built certdecoder.com and couldn’t find a decent place to submit it. So I said screw it — I’ll build my own. With blackjack and hookers. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
