Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Koding and SnapCost.

What makes your product unique?

SnapCost's answer:

SnapCost is the only expense tracker focused on invoice-based tracking with AI. Instead of manually entering every expense, you upload the actual invoice or receipt and AI extracts all the data automatically โ€” amount, date, provider, category, and billing period. Most competitors require manual input or only track bank transactions. SnapCost also supports multiple spaces, so you can track expenses separately for your home, office, or rental property from one account.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SnapCost's answer:

Most expense trackers make you type everything manually or connect to your bank. SnapCost eliminates data entry entirely โ€” upload a photo or PDF and the AI does the rest in seconds. It also tracks billing periods (not just invoice dates), so your electricity bill for January shows up in January's stats, not February's. And with multiple spaces, you can manage different properties without mixing expenses. It's simpler than accounting software but more powerful than a spreadsheet.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SnapCost's answer:

Families and individuals who want a clear picture of their household costs without maintaining spreadsheets. Small business owners who need to organize operational expenses (rent, utilities, insurance) without complex accounting software. Property owners and landlords managing multiple properties. Anyone looking for a simple, multilingual expense tracking tool.

What's the story behind your product?

SnapCost's answer:

SnapCost was born out of a personal frustration. I was drowning in utility bills, receipts, and PDFs scattered across email, paper mail, and random folders. I tried spreadsheets โ€” they worked for a month before I stopped updating them. Existing apps wanted me to type everything manually or connect my bank account. I just wanted to take a photo of an invoice and have it organized automatically. So I built SnapCost: upload the invoice, AI reads it, done. It started as a personal tool and grew into a product when friends and colleagues wanted the same thing.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SnapCost's answer:

Next.js (React) for the frontend, Supabase (PostgreSQL) for the database and authentication, OpenAI GPT-4o for AI-powered invoice parsing, Stripe for payments, and Cloudflare for hosting. The app supports three languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish) using next-intl.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

SnapCost's answer:

SnapCost serves individual users and small businesses. We don't disclose customer names, but our users include:

Families tracking household utilities and recurring expenses Small business owners managing operational costs Freelancers organizing invoices for tax and accounting purposes Property managers with multiple rental properties
