Analysis of Kimono

Overall verdict

  • Overall, Kimono Labs was considered a good choice for non-technical users and even some developers who needed a quick, reliable tool for web scraping tasks. However, it's important to note that Kimono Labs was acquired by Palantir in 2016 and subsequently shut down, so it's no longer available for use.

Why this product is good

  • Kimono Labs provided a web scraping tool that allowed users to automate data extraction from websites without any coding knowledge. It was appreciated for its ease of use, intuitive interface, and the ability to quickly create APIs from web data. This made it ideal for users who needed to pull data from the web regularly without engaging in complex programming tasks.

Recommended for

Originally, Kimono Labs was recommended for journalists, researchers, marketers, and data enthusiasts who needed a straightforward way to gather and analyze web data without extensive technical skills. Professionals with a focus on data aggregation from multiple sources also found it beneficial before its discontinuation.

Analysis of BayutAPI.dev

Overall verdict

  • BayutAPI.dev appears to be a niche third-party API service offering programmatic access to Bayut (a UAE-based real estate listing platform) property data, likely useful for developers and businesses needing UAE real estate data without official access, though its reliability, legality, and data accuracy depend on how it sources data from Bayut and whether it has proper authorization.

Why this product is good

  • Provides structured access to UAE real estate listings that may otherwise require manual scraping
  • Can save development time for building property search or aggregation tools
  • Likely offers simplified endpoints compared to building a custom scraper from scratch
  • May include filtering options for location, price, and property type relevant to the UAE market

Recommended for

  • Developers building real estate aggregator or comparison apps focused on the UAE market
  • Startups needing quick access to property listing data without building their own scraping infrastructure
  • Market researchers analyzing UAE real estate trends
  • Small businesses testing real estate data integrations before committing to official partnerships or enterprise data deals

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Kimono and BayutAPI.dev.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

BayutAPI.dev's answer:

Being honest here - as an API sold through RapidAPI, we don't have visibility into exactly who is using it or what they've built. What we do know is that it's being used by:

PropTech developers building Dubai property search apps Real estate investment analysts pulling market and transaction data Agencies and brokerages building internal tools and dashboards Researchers and students doing UAE real estate market analysis Indie hackers building rental yield calculators and price trackers If you've built something with it, reach out at happyendpointhq@gmail.com - happy to feature it.

What makes your product unique?

BayutAPI.dev's answer:

It gives developers real-time programmatic access to Bayut - the UAE's largest property portal - without scraping, proxies, or infrastructure overhead. The data covers the full UAE market including property listings, off-plan projects, agents, agencies, developers, and 24 months of transaction history, all returned as clean structured JSON. No other API on RapidAPI covers Bayut's data at this depth.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

BayutAPI.dev's answer:

Most alternatives either scrape data unreliably, cover only a fraction of the endpoints, or go unmaintained after a few months. BayutAPI is actively maintained, has sub-400ms response times, requires no proxies, and covers every major data type - listings, off-plan, agents, agencies, transactions, and location search - in one place. There is also a dedicated documentation site at bayutapi.dev and direct support via email.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

BayutAPI.dev's answer:

Developers and technical founders building PropTech products for the UAE market - property search portals, investment dashboards, rental yield calculators, agent CRM tools, and market analytics platforms. Also used by data analysts and researchers who need structured UAE real estate data for investment analysis or academic work.

What's the story behind your product?

BayutAPI.dev's answer:

Happy Endpoint built it out of a real frustration - there was no clean way to get UAE property data programmatically. Bayut has no public API, scraping it gets you blocked fast, and enterprise data feeds are priced out of reach for indie developers and small teams. So we built the API we wished existed, put it on RapidAPI, and kept the pricing accessible. The dedicated site is at bayutapi.dev.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

BayutAPI.dev's answer:

RESTful HTTP API built on Node.js, served over HTTPS, hosted on scalable cloud infrastructure. Authentication via RapidAPI's API key system. Responses in JSON following OpenAPI 3.1 specification. Available at the base URL https://bayut14.p.rapidapi.com.
