Trashbox's answer:
I got tired of existing temp mail services being slow, ad-heavy, and sketchy with user data. So I built one from scratch โ a fast, privacy-first disposable email service with a clean UI, no tracking, and real security features like HTML sanitization and automatic deletion. It started as a personal tool and grew into a full product available in 20 languages.
Trashbox's answer:
Trashbox focuses on three things most temp mail services ignore: automatic OTP detection that highlights verification codes for one-click copy, server-side HTML sanitization that strips scripts and tracking pixels before emails reach your browser, and full multi-language support across 20 languages. No registration, no captcha, no personal data collected.
Trashbox's answer:
Most temp mail services are cluttered with intrusive ads, slow to load, and don't care about security. Trashbox delivers a clean inbox experience with instant email generation, custom aliases, attachment support, and dark mode โ all on a fast static frontend powered by Astro and Cloudflare's global CDN. Your inbox is ready in under a second.
Trashbox's answer:
Anyone who values their inbox privacy. Developers testing email flows, privacy-conscious users avoiding spam from one-time signups, people accessing free trials or gated content, and anyone who doesn't want to hand over their real email to unknown websites.
Trashbox's answer:
Astro with React islands for the frontend, deployed on Cloudflare for global edge performance. Haraka as the SMTP email server, Redis for caching, and PostHog for privacy-friendly analytics. Everything runs over HTTPS with HSTS preload.
Trashbox's answer:
Trashbox is a free public service โ no enterprise customers or paid accounts. It serves individual users worldwide who need quick, anonymous disposable email addresses for everyday privacy protection.

I don't get it. The putty website has always been https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ This has never changed. Just because someone likes to use short circuit routing in their head doesn't make putty.org the official site for putty. That is the same attitude as telling the Keepass folks that https://keepass.info/ is wrong... - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago

And the best part is there are solutions already that do this: https://keepass.info/ Does it work on Android or iOS? - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
The key difference here being that this is two way hashing so passwords can be decrypted. In reality, there are a lot of attack vectors like MITM, event logging or sometimes straight up storing data in plaintext. Through these hackers can generally get passwords of all users of these services. So, why don't people use local password managers? Just a txt file encrypted with "master password" should be pretty... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
