  • Free to Use
KDP Print Cover offers a free calculator/generator, which is helpful for self-publishers on a budget who need to quickly determine cover dimensions and templates.
  • Accurate Dimensions
The tool helps calculate precise spine width and cover dimensions based on page count, trim size, and paper type, reducing the risk of formatting errors when submitting to KDP.

  • Accessibility
As a web-based tool, it can be accessed from any device with internet access, without requiring software downloads or installations.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Design Features
The tool primarily focuses on generating templates and dimensions rather than offering built-in design capabilities, so users still need external design software to create the actual cover artwork.
  • Niche Use Case
It is specifically tailored to KDP formatting requirements, making it less useful for authors publishing through other platforms with different specifications.
  • Dependency on Accuracy of Input
The output is only as accurate as the information entered (e.g., page count, paper type), so errors in user input can lead to incorrect cover dimensions.

KDP Print Cover
Codegres.org

Overall verdict

  • KDP Print Cover appears to be a niche tool/service designed to help self-publishers create properly formatted print book covers for Amazon's KDP platform, and it can be a good option for those needing quick, compliant cover dimensions without design expertise, though quality and features should be compared against alternatives like Canva or professional designers.

Why this product is good

  • Simplifies the technical process of calculating correct KDP print cover dimensions based on trim size and page count
  • Helps avoid common formatting rejections from Amazon KDP by ensuring proper bleed and spine measurements
  • Likely offers a faster and more affordable solution compared to hiring a professional cover designer
  • Useful for self-publishers who need functional, compliant covers without deep design software knowledge
  • May include templates specifically tailored to KDP requirements, saving time on research

Recommended for

  • Self-published authors using Amazon KDP for print-on-demand books
  • Indie authors on a budget who cannot afford custom cover design services
  • Writers who need quick technical solutions for cover formatting rather than artistic design
  • First-time KDP publishers unfamiliar with print cover specifications
  • Authors who plan to design their own cover art but need help with correct sizing and layout

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing KDP Print Cover and Codegres.org.

What makes your product unique?

KDP Print Cover's answer

KDP Print Cover Generator is the only free tool that takes your existing Kindle eBook cover and automatically builds a complete, print-ready full-wrap PDF — back cover, spine, and front cover — sized to Amazon KDP's exact specifications. You don't need design software or manual calculations. Enter your book specs, upload your cover, and download a submission-ready PDF in seconds.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

KDP Print Cover's answer

Most alternatives require you to design from scratch in a drag-and-drop editor, or pay for credits/subscriptions. KDP Print Cover Generator skips all of that — if you already have an eBook cover, you can generate a print cover in under a minute, completely free. It uses KDP's official formulas for spine width and PDF dimensions, supports all 16 paperback trim sizes plus 5 hardcover sizes, and outputs a 300 DPI, print-ready PDF that passes KDP's file checker without guesswork.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

KDP Print Cover's answer

Self-published authors who are publishing a paperback or hardcover on Amazon KDP and already have a Kindle eBook cover. Typically indie authors, first-time publishers, and authors transitioning from digital-only to print distribution who want a fast, accurate, no-cost way to create their print cover without hiring a designer or learning new software.

What's the story behind your product?

KDP Print Cover's answer

The tool was built out of frustration with the existing workflow. Authors who already have a professional eBook cover shouldn't need to start from scratch or pay again just to get a print version. KDP's own Cover Calculator gives you dimensions but doesn't generate the file. Third-party tools either charge credits or require full redesign. KDP Print Cover Generator was built to close that gap — take what you already have, and produce a spec-compliant print cover automatically.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

KDP Print Cover's answer

React (frontend), Node.js + Express (backend API), PDFKit for pixel-perfect PDF generation at 300 DPI, and Sharp for server-side image processing. Deployed on Vercel (frontend) and Railway (backend).

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

KDP Print Cover's answer

KDP Print Cover Generator is used by individual self-published authors on Amazon KDP. As a free tool, our users are primarily indie authors rather than enterprise customers.
