Analysis of SplitBiller

Overall verdict

  • SplitBiller appears to be a niche bill-splitting and expense-sharing tool aimed at simplifying group payments, though it lacks the widespread brand recognition and extensive third-party reviews of major competitors like Splitwise. It seems to offer solid core functionality for straightforward use cases, but you should verify current features, pricing, and security practices directly on their site before committing.

Why this product is good

  • Offers straightforward tools for splitting bills and tracking shared expenses among groups
  • Likely provides a simpler, less cluttered interface than larger, feature-heavy competitors
  • May cater to specific use cases like roommates, trips, or small group expenses
  • Potentially lower cost or free tier compared to premium expense-splitting apps

Recommended for

  • Roommates splitting rent and utility bills
  • Friends organizing shared trip expenses
  • Small groups needing basic expense tracking without complex features
  • Users looking for a lightweight alternative to more established splitting apps

What's the story behind your product?

SplitBiller's answer:

I built SplitBiller because splitting bills shouldnโ€™t feel like a task in itself.

I kept running into the same annoying scenario:

Someone pays the bill,

Then the group spends 5โ€“10 minutes figuring out who owes what,

Someone suggests an app,

Someone else doesnโ€™t want to install anything,

Then someone inevitably forgets to do it later.

I tried the big apps โ€” theyโ€™re great for tracking long-term shared expenses, but for oneโ€“off splits they felt like overkill โ€” signups, accounts, reminders, group setup, notificationsโ€ฆ all for something you just want done right now.

So I thought: What if it were as simple as opening a page, entering the amounts, and sharing the answer? No accounts. No history. No friction.

Thatโ€™s exactly what I built.

SplitBiller isnโ€™t trying to replace full-featured expense trackers โ€” itโ€™s for the moments when all you need is fast math and a shareable result.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SplitBiller's answer:

Next.js โ€“ for a fast, SEO-friendly, single-page web app JavaScript / TypeScript โ€“ all logic runs in the browser HTML + CSS (Tailwind or minimal CSS) โ€“ clean, responsive UI

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

SplitBiller's answer:

SplitBillerโ€™s most active users are friends, roommates, and small groups looking to settle shared expenses instantly โ€” no accounts, no apps, no history.
