Modular JavaScript 5 features
  • Free to Use
Just Color Picker is a freeware application, making it accessible to anyone without a cost barrier.
  • User-Friendly Interface
The software features a straightforward and intuitive interface, which makes it easy for users to select and save colors.
  • Multiple Color Formats
Supports a variety of color formats such as HEX, RGB, HSL, and more, enabling compatibility with different design tools and platforms.
  • Portability
It is a portable application that doesn't require installation, allowing users to run it from a USB stick on any computer.
  • Advanced Features
Includes advanced features like a screen magnifier, a color list for saving and comparing colors, and gradient creation.
  • Cross-Platform
The application is available for both Windows and Mac OS, providing flexibility in terms of the operating system.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Integration
The software doesn't integrate directly with major graphic design and development tools, requiring manual import of color codes.
  • No Mobile Version
Just Color Picker is not available for mobile platforms like iOS or Android, limiting its use to desktop environments.
  • Basic Editing Tools
While it offers advanced features for color selection, it lacks more sophisticated editing tools found in comprehensive design software.
  • Learning Curve
Though the interface is user-friendly, new users may still need some time to explore and fully utilize all the available features.
  • Occasional Bugs
Users have reported occasional bugs and crashes, which can disrupt the workflow.
  • No Cloud Sync
The software doesn't offer cloud synchronization for saved color lists, meaning users can't easily access their palettes on different devices.
  • Improved Code Organization
Modular JavaScript allows developers to break down code into smaller, manageable modules. This enhances code readability and maintainability by organizing related functionality together.
  • Code Reusability
Modules encourage reusability by allowing the same piece of code to be used across different projects or multiple areas of the same application, reducing redundancy.
  • Scalability
As the application grows, managing code becomes easier with modular JavaScript. Each module can be developed, tested, and maintained independently, making the codebase more scalable.
  • Encapsulation
Modules provide encapsulation, preventing variables and functions from polluting the global namespace. This reduces the risk of naming conflicts and bugs.
  • Improved Testing
With code organized into discrete modules, writing unit tests becomes more straightforward. Each module can be tested individually, leading to more reliable and maintainable tests.

Possible disadvantages

  • Increased Complexity
Introducing modularity can add complexity to the build process, as it often requires module loaders or bundlers (like Webpack or Browserify) to manage dependencies.
  • Overhead
For smaller projects, using a modular approach might be overkill, introducing unnecessary overhead in terms of setup, configuration, and code management.
  • Learning Curve
Developers unfamiliar with modular JavaScript may face a learning curve, especially when dealing with module patterns, loaders, and bundlers.
  • Dependency Management
Relying on multiple modules can lead to complex dependency chains, making it challenging to track and resolve dependencies across different modules.
  • Performance Overhead
Modular JavaScript can introduce performance overhead if not managed properly, such as loading many small modules individually, leading to increased HTTP requests.

Do you know any app that is very similar to Just Color Picker? It's almost perfect. Unfortunately, it's only for Windows. It's working properly using Wine, but why not switching to a native app. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Is there an alternative color chooser I could replace the Windows one with (and how)? The default one is mostly fine except it doesn't support filling in hex color codes.
