JSON Operations 9 features
Opalstack 5 features
  • JSON Formatter and Validator
The core tool. Paste any raw JSON string and instantly beautify it with proper indentation and syntax highlighting. Switch between beautify, minify, stringify and tree viewer modes. The validator catches syntax errors like missing commas, unclosed brackets and incorrect data types in real-time and highlights the exact line where the issue is.
  • JSON to CSV Converter
Flatten complex nested JSON arrays into clean CSV tables. Perfect for importing API data into Excel, Google Sheets or any BI tool. Handles nested objects and arrays of objects automatically.
  • JSON to XML Converter
Convert JSON objects and arrays into well-formed XML with proper element nesting. Useful for integrating with legacy systems, SOAP APIs or XML-based workflows.
  • XML to JSON Converter
Parse XML documents back into clean JSON objects. Great for migrating data from XML-based systems to modern JSON APIs.
  • JSON to YAML Converter
Transform JSON into human-readable YAML format. Essential for developers working with Kubernetes manifests, Docker Compose files, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code configurations.
  • YAML to JSON Converter
Convert YAML configuration files back to JSON. Helpful when you need to programmatically process YAML configs or validate their structure.
  • JSON to Table Converter
Visualize JSON arrays as clean, readable HTML tables. The fastest way to inspect structured data without writing any code. Great for quick data reviews and presentations.
  • JSON to TOON Converter
Transform JSON data into TOON format for specialized use cases.
  • JSON Generator
Generate realistic mock JSON datasets for testing, prototyping and development. Create sample data without manually writing it.

Opalstack is designed with developers in mind, offering SSH access, Git integration, and support for multiple programming languages and frameworks including Python, Node.js, Ruby, and PHP, giving developers granular control over their hosting environment.
  • Affordable Pricing
Opalstack offers competitive pricing for shared and managed hosting plans, making it an accessible option for small businesses, freelancers, and individual developers who need robust features without enterprise-level costs.
  • Modern Control Panel
Opalstack provides a clean, modern, and intuitive web-based dashboard for managing sites, applications, databases, and email accounts, which is a significant improvement over older-style hosting control panels like cPanel.
  • Strong Support for Multiple Applications
The platform supports a wide variety of application types including WordPress, Django, Flask, Express, static sites, and more, allowing users to host diverse projects on a single account with easy deployment.
  • Reliable Infrastructure and Support
Opalstack is built by former WebFaction team members, bringing experienced hosting expertise. They offer responsive customer support and a reputation for stable, well-managed server infrastructure with good uptime.

Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing JSON Operations and Opalstack.

What makes your product unique?

JSON Operations's answer

JSON Operations is not just a formatter. It is a complete JSON toolkit with 10 tools in one place. You get a formatter, validator, and 9 converters (JSON to CSV, XML, YAML, Table, TOON, and more) all under one roof.

The biggest differentiator is privacy. Every single operation runs 100% client-side in your browser using JavaScript. There is no backend server, no API calls, no cookies, and no data collection of any kind. Your JSON data never leaves your device. You can verify this yourself by opening the browser DevTools Network tab while using the tool.

Most competing tools either process data server-side, require signups, limit usage, or show ads. JSON Operations does none of that. It is completely free, unlimited, and requires no account to use.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

JSON Operations's answer

Three reasons:

First, privacy. Unlike most online JSON tools that send your data to a backend server for processing, JSON Operations runs everything locally in your browser. If you work with sensitive API responses, internal configs, or customer data, this matters a lot.

Second, it is an all-in-one toolkit. Instead of bookmarking 5 or 6 different websites for formatting, validating, and converting JSON, you get everything in one clean interface. Formatter, validator, JSON to CSV, JSON to XML, JSON to YAML, YAML to JSON, XML to JSON, CSV to JSON, JSON to Table, and a mock data generator.

Third, zero friction. No signup, no login, no email capture popup, no freemium walls, no ads. You open the site and start working immediately. That is how developer tools should be.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

JSON Operations's answer

JSON Operations is built for anyone who works with JSON data regularly.

Frontend and backend developers use it daily to format and debug API responses, validate config files, and quickly inspect nested data structures with the tree viewer.

Data analysts use the JSON to CSV converter to flatten complex JSON datasets into spreadsheet-friendly formats for Excel or Google Sheets.

DevOps and platform engineers use the JSON to YAML converter when working with Kubernetes manifests, Docker Compose files, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipeline configurations.

QA engineers use it to validate JSON payloads across microservices and catch formatting issues before they become bugs.

Students and bootcamp learners use it to understand JSON structure and experiment with different data formats while learning API development.

What's the story behind your product?

JSON Operations's answer

We are a dev team at Nomos Insights, a software development agency based in India. Our team works with APIs and JSON data every single day across multiple client projects.

The frustration started when we realized we were using 5 or 6 different websites just to format, validate, and convert JSON. One site for formatting, another for JSON to CSV, another for YAML conversion, and so on. On top of that, we were always uneasy about pasting sensitive client data into random online tools without knowing if they were logging it on their servers.

So we built JSON Operations as an internal tool for our own team. We made everything run client-side so we could trust it with real project data. After using it internally for months and iterating on the features, we realized other developers probably have the same frustrations.

We decided to launch it publicly, completely free, with no catches. No signup walls, no premium tiers, no ads. Just a clean, fast, private JSON toolkit that we wish existed when we started.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

JSON Operations's answer

JSON Operations is built with a modern web stack:

Next.js as the framework for server-side rendering, routing, and SEO optimization. React for the interactive UI components and editor interfaces. JavaScript and TypeScript for all the core JSON processing logic that runs client-side. Tailwind CSS for styling and responsive design across desktop, tablet, and mobile. Vercel for hosting and deployment with edge caching for fast load times globally.

All JSON parsing, formatting, validation, and conversion logic is written in pure JavaScript and runs entirely in the browser. There is no backend server or database involved in any of the data processing operations.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

JSON Operations's answer

  • Individual developers and engineers who debug API responses and config files daily
  • Frontend teams at startups who work with REST and GraphQL API data
  • Data analysts who convert JSON exports into CSV for reporting in Excel and Google Sheets
  • DevOps engineers who convert between JSON and YAML for Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
  • QA and testing teams who validate JSON payloads across microservices
  • Bootcamp students and self-taught developers learning JSON structure and data formats
  • Freelance developers who handle client projects involving multiple data formats
  • Small dev agencies and studios that need a trusted, private tool for handling client data
