Possible disadvantages of Journali

  • Limited Feature Set
Compared to more established journaling and note-taking apps like Day One or Notion, Journali may lack advanced features such as multimedia support, tagging systems, or robust search capabilities.
  • Lesser-Known Platform
Journali is a relatively niche product with a smaller user base, which means fewer community resources, reviews, and third-party integrations compared to mainstream alternatives.

As a smaller, lesser-known platform, there may be concerns about the long-term viability of the service and whether user data will remain accessible if the platform shuts down.
  • Limited Customization Options
The minimalist approach, while appealing for simplicity, may restrict users who want more control over formatting, themes, layouts, or organizational structures for their entries.
  • Dependency on Internet Access
As a web-based tool, Journali may require an internet connection to access and write entries, which can be a limitation for users who want to journal offline or in areas with poor connectivity.

  • No Offline Access
The platform requires an internet connection, which may be inconvenient for users who prefer to work offline or have unreliable internet access.
  • Subscription Costs
Some features and advanced content on CodeBlinks may be locked behind a subscription paywall, which might not be ideal for users looking for free resources.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Journali and CodeBlinks.

What makes your product unique?

Journali's answer

Journali is the only trading journal combining three things no competitor offers together:

  • Mobile-first design โ€” not a desktop app bolted onto a phone. Built from day one for logging at the open.
  • Claude-powered AI Coach that reads your actual trade data โ€” setup, entry, exit, emotional notes โ€” and delivers personalized feedback instead of generic templates.
  • Real-time prop firm mode with pre-configured rules for FTMO, Apex, Topstep, MyFundedFutures, Elite Trader Funding, and Funded Next โ€” tracks daily loss, max drawdown, and profit target so traders know before they breach.

Every feature is optimized around 30-second trade logging, because friction is what kills 90% of trading journals within 3 weeks.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Journali's answer

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Journali's answer

  • Frontend: Static HTML/CSS/JS (no build step, sub-second load times)
  • Backend: Supabase (PostgreSQL + Auth + Edge Functions + Realtime)
  • AI: Anthropic Claude (Trade Coach, Reconstruction, Weekly Debrief)
  • Payments: Stripe (Checkout + Customer Portal + Connect for affiliates)
  • Broker sync: SnapTrade (40+ brokers via OAuth)
  • Email: Resend (transactional + daily digest + morning briefing)
  • Charts: Chart.js 4.4 + TradingView embedded widgets
  • Hosting: Netlify

What's the story behind your product?

Journali's answer

Journali was built by Tyler Hendrix, a futures trader who tried every existing trading journal and quit each one within weeks. The reasons were always the same: logging took too long, the app was desktop-only and unusable on a phone at the open, or the pricing felt like a billing funnel designed to extract the maximum before cancel.

So three hard rules were set for Journali: logging has to take 30 seconds, it has to work from a phone, and the AI has to read your real data instead of spitting generic advice.

The result is the trading journal I wish had existed when I started trading โ€” fast, honest, and genuinely useful.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Journali's answer

Journali is built for active traders who log 5+ trades per week and want data-driven performance improvement.

  • Day traders in futures, options, equities, and forex
  • Prop firm evaluation traders (FTMO, Apex, Topstep, MyFundedFutures, Elite Trader Funding, Funded Next)
  • Options sellers and spread traders needing multi-leg position support
  • Futures scalpers who need fast mobile logging between setups
  • Forex swing traders with pip-native P&L tracking
  • Anyone whose spreadsheet journal died at week 3

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Journali's answer

  • Mobile-first, not a desktop port. Tradezella, Tradervue, and Edgewonk were built 2013โ€“2018 and bolted mobile on as an afterthought. Journali was designed for phone-first logging.
  • AI that reads YOUR data, not templates. Competitor "AI features" are usually generic advice. Journali's Claude-powered AI Coach reads your specific trade data to deliver real feedback.
  • Real prop firm mode. Pre-configured rules with real-time limit tracking that warns before you breach. Most competitors don't have this at all.
  • Transparent pricing. $20 Pro / $30 Premier vs competitors at $30โ€“99/month. Real free tier (6 trades, no credit card), no annual lock-in.
  • Built for 2026. Modern dark-mode-native UI, sub-second loads, broker auto-sync via SnapTrade (40+ brokers).
