As answered by people managing JavaScript.com and Parergon.io.
Parergon.io's answer:
Parergon combines a native Mac image/video viewer with a complete EXIF, IPTC and XMP metadata workspace. Its 170 documented features span nine categories, bringing editing, search, exports, Apple Photos access, keyword automation and on-device intelligence together.
The key combination is professional viewing, standards-based metadata and reviewable automation: Metal rendering with Display-P3 color, a 142-field registry, reusable templates, controlled vocabularies and Pro batch tools. Image analysis runs locally on your Mac, and intelligence proposals are reviewed before anything is written.
Parergon.io's answer:
Choose Parergon if you want a dedicated Mac workspace for keeping photo and video metadata accurate, consistent and usable across other tools. It brings ExifTool-powered metadata access into a visual interface, with direct RAW metadata editing, keyword vocabularies, date/GPS correction and reusable templates.
For larger collections, Pro combines batch operations, indexed and meaning search, side-by-side comparison, recoverable privacy redaction, and PDF/HTML portfolios. Verified writes and review steps help you control changes to your files.
You can start free with viewing, Apple Photos browsing, five metadata edits per day and unlimited Plain Text export, then use Pro when you need unlimited editing and advanced workflows.
Parergon.io's answer:
Parergon is for photographers, archivists, digital asset managers and creative teams who need to organize and maintain photo or video collections on a Mac. It is especially useful for consistent keywords, copyright and credits, corrected capture dates, location information and clean client deliveries.
It also suits people maintaining personal or family archives who want their images to remain searchable and well documented. The current app requires a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 15.4 or later.
Parergon.io's answer:
Parergon began as MetaScope, developed by Zalo Design Studio in the Netherlands to bring professional image viewing and metadata management into a native Mac app. MetaScope 1.0 launched on August 15, 2025. Subsequent releases expanded its keyword workflows, automation, library search and on-device intelligence.
On October 7, 2026, version 1.7.0 introduced the name Parergon. The name comes from the ancient Greek term for what accompanies a work: a fitting description of the captions, keywords, dates, rights and locations that accompany an image. The rename preserved existing subscriptions, libraries, templates and settings.
Parergon.io's answer:
Parergon is built with Swift and SwiftUI as a native macOS application. Its main technologies include:
Optional fluent text generation uses Apple Intelligence on macOS 26. Image analysis runs locally rather than uploading photographs for analysis.
