Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing JavaScript.com and Import Cost Calculator.

What makes your product unique?

Import Cost Calculator's answer:

You decide how far to take it: a quick duty number, the full landed cost, or a verdict on whether the order is worth placing.

Just want the duty? Enter product value and category and you get the estimated customs duty, estimated China-specific tariffs, and US customs fees, in one number with a breakdown.

Want the landed cost? Add shipping and quantity to see the total and the cost per unit.

Want to know if it's worth importing? Add your expected sale price for a GO / TIGHT / NO-GO verdict. Marketplace fee and ad spend start with editable defaults.

At any step you can refine the estimate with your own HS code rate, tariff settings and insurance cost. Free, no signup, and the page shows when the rates were last checked against CBP, USTR and the Federal Register.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Import Cost Calculator's answer:

  • Free, no signup, no paid tier
  • Built for China-to-USA imports, with category-based tariff estimates and rates reviewed regularly
  • Goes beyond the duty rate to landed cost per unit and a GO / TIGHT / NO-GO verdict based on your sale price and selling costs
  • Adjustable assumptions: start with category defaults, then enter your own HS code rate when you know it
  • Rates checked against CBP, USTR and the Federal Register, with the last-checked date shown on the page
  • Instant browser-based results, with a copyable summary you can send to a supplier or partner

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Import Cost Calculator's answer:

Amazon FBA sellers, small D2C brands and first-time importers sourcing from China who want a realistic number before they commit to a supplier.

Also useful as a planning cross-check when comparing DDP quotes.

What's the story behind your product?

Import Cost Calculator's answer:

I kept seeing the same thing: the supplier quote looks fine, then duties, tariff layers and fees eat the margin.

I wanted a free tool that models the layers that apply to a China-to-USA order and just says GO, TIGHT or NO-GO on your numbers, so I built one.
