  • Ease of Use
The software offers a straightforward command-line interface, which facilitates easy setup and execution of network performance tests.

Possible disadvantages of IPerf2

  • Network Intrusiveness
IPerf2 can generate significant network traffic during testing, which might interfere with normal network operations and lead to inaccurate results if not managed properly.
  • No Graphical User Interface
The lack of a built-in graphical user interface can be a drawback for users who prefer visual tools over command-line operations, limiting its accessibility to non-technical users.
  • Limited Protocol Support
While IPerf2 supports TCP and UDP, it does not cover other network protocols like HTTP or FTP, which might be necessary for a comprehensive performance analysis in some cases.
  • Potential Stability Issues
As an open-source project, updates and patches might not be as frequent or robust as those for commercial software, potentially leading to stability issues.
  • Tunneling and VPN Limitations
IPerf2 may not measure performance accurately when dealing with complex network configurations involving tunneling or VPNs, requiring additional configuration for accurate testing.

Compared to more robust location data platforms, AZIPCODE may lack advanced features such as radius searches, bulk lookups, or detailed demographic breakdowns that power users or businesses might need.
  • Ad-Supported Experience
As a free tool, the website may display advertisements that can be distracting and detract from the overall user experience during ZIP code searches.
  • Limited API Access
The site may not offer a well-documented or robust API for developers who want to integrate ZIP code data into their own applications or services programmatically.
  • U.S.-Only Coverage
AZIPCODE focuses exclusively on U.S. ZIP codes, which limits its usefulness for users who need postal code information for international locations.
  • Data Freshness Concerns
It may not always be clear how frequently the ZIP code data is updated, raising potential concerns about the accuracy and currency of the information provided, especially for newly created or modified ZIP codes.

IPerf2 mentions (3)

  • WAN circuit testing
I think such a tool is fairly straightforward to develop with iperf 2 as the underlying src/sink. The man page has new features including start times & permit keys. Active, low duty-cycle, low impact telemetry has been a goal. The idea is that someone else would develop a web app and host public servers. As an iperf 2 maintainer, I'm trying to remain arm's length from such products but I do think the industry... Source: over 3 years ago
  • WAN circuit testing
Iperf 2 can help and has many new tests including one way delay, low duty cycle burst, tcp bouncback, etc. More on the man page. OWD does required clock sync. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Is iPerf test an officially approved RFC 2544 test?
A bit of a tangent, but there are a lot of new features in iperf 2, much are around latency or one way delay (OWD). Many times these days it's latency that affects the quality of experience to end users. Source: about 4 years ago
