Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Invoice to PDF and Codegres.org.

What makes your product unique?

Invoice to PDF's answer

Two things: the price is genuinely $0 with no catch, and the privacy architecture. Your invoice data is used once to render the PDF and never touches our database - drafts live in your own browser, not on our servers. Add the practical depth (deposits with automatic balance due, tax/discount as percent or fixed, 159 correctly-formatted currencies, your own logo) and you get a tool that handles real invoicing without an account, a trial, or a watermark.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Invoice to PDF's answer

If you need an invoice right now, we're the shortest path: no signup wall, no onboarding, no watermarked output - open the page, type, download. Most "free" alternatives gate the PDF behind an account or stamp their brand on it. To be fair the other way: if you need a full accounts-receivable workflow - online payments, automatic reminders, client portals - mature suites do that and we don't (yet). We're built for the person who wants a professional invoice in two minutes, not another subscription.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Invoice to PDF's answer

Freelancers, independent contractors, consultants and small service businesses (typically 1–10 people) that invoice occasionally to weekly. Primarily US-based, but with 159 supported currencies it serves anyone billing international clients.

What's the story behind your product?

Invoice to PDF's answer

We run small projects ourselves and kept hitting the same wall: every "free invoice generator" wanted a signup before the download, watermarked the PDF, or started a 14-day trial for a two-minute task. So we built the obvious thing - a generator where the whole flow is the free part - and made privacy a design decision rather than a feature. We ship improvements continuously in the open: every change lands in the public release notes, and most features started as a user's email.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Invoice to PDF's answer

Elixir and Phoenix (LiveView) for the app, Typst for PDF rendering, Tailwind CSS for the UI, PostgreSQL, deployed on AWS. Server-rendered HTML end to end - fast pages, no heavy client framework.
