Analysis of Imgseek

Why this product is good

  • It is free and open-source, so there are no licensing costs
  • Uses content-based image retrieval (CBIR) technology to find visually similar images
  • Lets you search by sketching a rough query or providing a sample image
  • Useful for managing and organizing large personal photo or image collections
  • Cross-platform availability through its Python-based implementation

Recommended for

  • Hobbyists and individuals wanting to organize personal image libraries
  • Developers interested in experimenting with content-based image retrieval

Analysis of Vim Python IDE

Overall verdict

  • Vim configured as a Python IDE (typically via plugins like coc.nvim, YouCompleteMe, ALE, jedi-vim, or NERDTree combined with configurations found in various GitHub repositories) is a solid choice for developers who value speed, keyboard-driven workflows, and deep customization, though it requires more setup effort than out-of-the-box IDEs like PyCharm or VS Code.

Why this product is good

  • Extremely lightweight and fast, even on older or resource-constrained hardware
  • Highly customizable through plugins (linting, autocompletion, debugging, git integration)
  • Keyboard-centric workflow enables very efficient editing once mastered
  • Works seamlessly over SSH and in terminal-only environments, great for remote server work
  • Free and open-source with a massive ecosystem of community-maintained configs and plugins
  • Consistent editing experience across many languages, not just Python

Recommended for

  • Experienced developers comfortable with the Vim/Neovim modal editing paradigm
  • Users who frequently work in terminal-only or remote/SSH environments
  • Developers who want a minimal, distraction-free coding environment
  • Engineers who enjoy building and maintaining their own custom tooling/config
  • Power users who prioritize speed and efficiency over GUI convenience
  • Those already familiar with Vim motions looking to extend it into a full Python dev environment

Maybe you can try this to search for it in your folder: Https://sourceforge.net/projects/imgseek/. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Looking for a software that can detect visually similar images
I'm looking for a software that can detect visually similar images inside a given folder to a given image. Something like this is perfect except it crashes every time I add a large folder. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Ctrl+F but with image, machine learning perhaps?
Yeah things like this exist. I have such a program on my computer for finding the best match for a given image, it uses the image to see if I have images that look similar to it (it displays a percent match of how close the provided image is to images on the system). The app I'm using is called imgSeek : https://sourceforge.net/projects/imgseek/. Source: over 5 years ago
