No 1:1 coaching calls, no $500 consultant fee.

Three reasons. First, speed: most career assessments are either 2-minute BuzzFeed-style quizzes (useless) or 45+ minute Hogan/Myers-Briggs batteries (overkill). Ikimate delivers a high-signal report in 10 minutes. Second, actionability: competitors tell you "you're an ENTJ" — we tell you "you're underpaid by $18k in your current role, here are 3 jobs to target in the next 90 days, and here's what to fix on your resume this week." Third, price: $19 one-time vs $150-500 for a single coaching session. We built this for people who want a second opinion they can trust, not a personality label.

Primarily 25-45 year-old knowledge workers in tech, marketing, finance, and operations who feel stuck, underpaid, or unsure whether to pivot. Three typical personas: (1) the "silently underpaid" senior IC who suspects they're leaving $20-40k on the table; (2) the "mid-career pivoter" considering a switch from corporate to startup, IC to management, or industry change; (3) the "first-time job changer" 2-5 years into their first role wondering if they picked the right path. Also popular with recent grads doing career planning and people returning to work after a gap.

Ikimate started as a side project after watching too many friends either overpay for career coaches who delivered generic "find your passion" advice, or settle into careers that didn't fit because they never got honest external feedback. The existing options felt broken: personality tests were fun but shallow, 1:1 coaching was expensive and slow, and AI chatbots weren't grounded in real career data. We built Ikimate to combine structured psychometric signal with market data (salaries, growth trajectories, required skills) and wrap it in an AI that produces a report you'd actually pay a coach for — but in 10 minutes, for a fraction of the cost.

IKIMATE's answer

Next.js 15 (App Router, React Server Components) on the frontend, NestJS on the backend, PostgreSQL for data, Stripe for payments, and OpenAI's GPT models for the AI-driven career analysis. Deployed on a single server via Docker Compose with Caddy as a reverse proxy. TypeScript end to end. The monorepo uses pnpm workspaces so the web and API share types for quiz responses and the generated career report.
