Every existing tool we tried required either creating an account, trusting a third-party server with the message content, or using a complex encryption tool that felt overkill for a casual secret between friends.
We wanted something that felt fun and playful — not clinical or technical. Something anyone could use in 30 seconds without reading a manual.
So we built Hidey.
The first version was just a simple message encoder. But as we used it with friends, we realised two more use cases kept coming up naturally — sharing quizzes without spoiling the answers, and locking a surprise message behind a question only the right person could answer.
Those became Quiz Mode and Question Mode.
