> Linux is more welcoming to new users. And the difference is only growing. Unless you want documentation. :) Linux documentation is ALL over the place, and it's hard to know if X docs apply to your particular mess. On OpenBSD it's `man ` and you get your docs. Yes man exists on Linux, but lots of tools, especially "new" stuff or linux specific stuff doesn't come with man pages and those that do have man... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Not to mention that the FreeBSD man pages are quite complete. Granted, I am biased as I have used FreeBSD in various efforts for quite some time and am a fan of it. Still and all, the project's documentation is a gold standard IMHO. 0 - https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/ 1 - https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/porters-handbook/ 2 - https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/developers-handbook/ 3 -... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

It is a cohesive whole which can be read from start to finish (it is an actual book). This is also how the whole system feels as well (as others have commented). Things are integrated and coherent. Example: freebsd has its own libc, and the kernel... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
