Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing GitHub Copilot and Burnwiser.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Burnwiser's answer:

BurnWiser is designed for SaaS founders, indie hackers, freelancers, agencies, and small startups that manage recurring software expenses and multiple revenue streams.

What makes your product unique?

Burnwiser's answer:

BurnWiser focuses on helping founders and small teams understand their real profitability, not just track expenses. Instead of acting like traditional accounting software, it combines automatic invoice parsing, recurring subscription tracking, and revenue syncing into a simple founder-focused dashboard. Users can forward invoices from Gmail or upload PDFs, then instantly see burn, revenue, and profit across projects without maintaining spreadsheets manually.

What's the story behind your product?

Burnwiser's answer:

BurnWiser was created from a real problem experienced while managing multiple SaaS businesses. Tracking subscriptions, APIs, freelancer invoices, and overall profitability across products became increasingly difficult and spreadsheet-heavy. Existing accounting solutions felt too complex and were not focused on the operational questions founders actually care about. BurnWiser was built to provide a simpler and more automated way to track recurring spending and understand true profitability.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Burnwiser's answer:

Most finance tools are built for accountants or large companies. BurnWiser is built for founders who want fast visibility into where their money is going. It automates invoice parsing, tracks recurring SaaS costs, syncs revenue from platforms like Stripe and FastSpring, and provides clear profitability insights without accounting complexity. The setup is lightweight, practical, and designed for operational decision-making rather than bookkeeping.
