QTranslate is a free, open-source desktop translation tool for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Select any text in any application, press Ctrl+Q, and the translation appears instantly in a popup โ no browser tab, no copy-pasting.
Built around a plugin system, so when a translation service changes its API or shuts down, you swap the plugin without reinstalling the app. Bundled plugins include Google, Bing, and an AI plugin that works with Gemini, GPT, Mistral, and Claude.
Features include screen OCR (draw a rectangle over anything on screen to extract text), text to speech, spell checking with live suggestions, summarization, text rewriting in different styles (Formal, Casual, Concise, Simplified), backward translation, full RTL support for Arabic, Hebrew, and Farsi, and 15+ themes.
