Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ We just launched RunMyJob โ€” a load-based CI platform built for devs who are tired of overpaying for idle time.

Weโ€™re on a mission to fix something thatโ€™s always bugged us about CI: the pricing model. Most cloud CI platforms bill by time โ€” which means you're paying even when your runner is just sitting there, waiting for dependencies to download or network calls to resolve. That adds up fast, especially as projects grow and workflows get more complex.

So we built RunMyJob to flip the model. Instead of billing by time, we meter actual CPU and RAM usage per second. You only pay for real work done.

What we offer: - Load-based billing โ€” idle time is free - High-performance by default โ€” 12 vCPU / 32 GB RAM on the free tier - Zero runner maintenance โ€” drop-in replacement for GitHub Actions or GitLab CI runners - Our own infra โ€” no AWS or Hetzner reselling, all running on Tier III data centers

If you're hitting limits with GitHub or GitLab runners โ€” or just want CI that feels fast and fair โ€” give RunMyJob a try. Weโ€™d love your feedback, and happy to answer anything about the tech or the pricing model!

GitHub Actions features and specs

  • Seamless GitHub Integration
GitHub Actions are natively integrated with GitHub, making it easy to use within repositories and leverage other GitHub features such as issues, pull requests, and releases.
  • Custom Workflows
Allows for the creation of complex and custom workflows using YAML syntax, providing flexibility to handle a variety of CI/CD processes.
  • Marketplace Access
Access to GitHub Marketplace where a wide range of pre-built actions are available, allowing users to quickly set up workflows with minimal configuration.
  • Concurrent Execution
Supports parallel execution of jobs, which can significantly reduce the time needed to run workflows by performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-Hosted Runners
Provides the ability to use self-hosted runners, offering more control over the environment and resources used for running workflows.
  • Cost-Efficient
Includes a generous free tier, especially for public repositories, which can be cost-effective for projects with limited resource requirements.

Possible disadvantages of GitHub Actions

  • Complexity for Beginners
Due to its powerful features and flexibility, setting up and managing GitHub Actions can be complex for users who are not familiar with CI/CD processes or YAML.
  • Limited to GitHub
As a GitHub-specific product, GitHub Actions is tied to repositories hosted on GitHub, limiting its use for projects that are hosted on other version control platforms.
  • Billing for Additional Usage
While there is a free tier, usage beyond the free limits incurs additional charges, which can become significant for high-frequency or resource-intensive workflows.
  • Resource Limitations
GitHub Actions has limitations on available resources (such as CPU and memory) for runners, which can be restrictive for very resource-intensive tasks.

Runmyjob.io features and specs

  • Cloud-Based Job Scheduling
Runmyjob.io offers a cloud-based workload automation and job scheduling platform, eliminating the need for on-premises infrastructure and reducing maintenance overhead for IT teams.
  • Simplified Automation
The platform is designed to simplify complex job scheduling and workload automation tasks, making it easier for organizations to manage batch processing, file transfers, and other automated workflows.
  • Cross-Platform Support
Runmyjob.io supports automation across multiple platforms and environments, allowing organizations to orchestrate jobs across diverse IT infrastructure including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid setups.
  • SaaS Model Reduces Overhead
As a Software-as-a-Service solution, Runmyjob.io reduces the need for dedicated infrastructure, patching, and upgrades, allowing teams to focus on business processes rather than maintaining scheduling tools.
  • Modern Interface
The platform provides a modern, web-based user interface that is more intuitive than many legacy job scheduling tools, helping reduce the learning curve for new users and improving operational visibility.

Possible disadvantages of Runmyjob.io

  • Limited Market Presence
Compared to well-established workload automation tools like Control-M, Tidal, or Autosys, Runmyjob.io has a smaller market presence, which may raise concerns about long-term viability and community support.
  • Fewer Third-Party Integrations
Being a newer and smaller platform, Runmyjob.io may not have the breadth of pre-built integrations with enterprise applications and tools that larger, more established competitors offer.
  • Limited Public Reviews and Documentation
There is relatively limited publicly available user feedback, independent reviews, and community-driven documentation, making it harder for prospective customers to evaluate the platform thoroughly before committing.
  • Cloud Dependency
As a cloud-based SaaS product, organizations with strict data residency requirements, limited internet connectivity, or a preference for on-premises deployments may find the platform less suitable for their needs.
  • Potential Vendor Lock-In
Migrating job definitions, workflows, and automation logic to or from a niche SaaS platform can be complex, potentially leading to vendor lock-in if the organization later decides to switch to a different solution.

Drive pair selection from search query logs. Right now I pick pairs by download rank. A better signal would be which pairs users actually search for.
