I am software engineer and extension(and lately site) was made out of frustration with debugging YAML indentation errors in CircleCI schemes and Kubernetes deployments. A misplaced space in a YAML file can break an entire deployment, and generic text editors don't catch schema-level mistakes. If you're hell-bent on headless, I can personally recommend 11ty (https://www.11ty.dev/) and hugo (https://gohugo.io/). That said, for non-technical admins, you probably want a user interface.
