I just used multcloud.com to transfer all of my photos to Dropbox. Im pretty sure it retained all of the original photo data and was way easier than that takeout bullshit. Source: about 3 years ago
Better use Rclone for this. I don't have very much experience using rsync, but I know Rclone would do this job very fine. If you don't want to get a VPS or run Rclone locally, you could consider a service like multcloud.com to migrate... Source: over 3 years ago
