  • Global Reach
Being an international platform, Freelancer.com allows employers and freelancers to work together across different time zones and regions.

Possible disadvantages of Freelancer.com

Docs by Proxy features and specs

  • Secure Escrow System
We use Stripe, a global leader in secure payments, to power our escrow system. Client funds are held securely and are only released to the contractor after the client has approved the document and confirmed its safe arrival. This protects both parties throughout the transaction.
  • Identity Verification
No contractor can bid on a request without first completing our mandatory identity verification (KYC) process.
  • Private & Secure Messaging
All communication between clients and contractors happens on our platform through a private messaging system. This creates a clear, written record of all conversations and agreements related to a contract.
  • Confidentiality
We expect all users to treat personal information and documents with the highest level of confidentiality. Any misuse of information is a direct violation of our Terms of Service and will result in a permanent ban from the platform.
  • Two-Way Review System
Accountability is key. After a contract is completed, both the client and contractor can rate and review each other. To ensure honesty, reviews are only made public after both parties have submitted theirs.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Freelancer.com and Docs by Proxy.

What's the story behind your product?

Docs by Proxy's answer:

Docs by Proxy was born from a personal and deeply frustrating experience.

About three years ago, our founder, living abroad, urgently needed an official document from his home country. He spent days searching online, only to find a confusing landscape of expensive, untrustworthy services with no clear process or guarantee of security. There had to be a better way.

He set out to build it from scratch.

The question was simple: What if we could securely connect people living abroad with reliable, vetted individuals back home? What if we could build a platform that turned a complex, stressful process into a simple, transparent, and secure transaction?

It has taken three years of meticulous research, planning, and development to answer that question. Docs By Proxy is the result.

Our mission is to bridge the distance, providing a platform built on trust that significantly simplifies the process of obtaining official documents. We aim to increase the speed, security, and confidence for people everywhere — while simultaneously creating meaningful opportunities for our network of trusted contractors around the world.

What makes your product unique?

Docs by Proxy's answer:

Docs by Proxy is the first decentralized marketplace designed to solve the global problem of "remote bureaucracy." It shifts the paradigm from expensive, slow international agencies to a peer-to-peer model that connects users with verified local proxies in any target location. Unlike traditional courier services or unverified freelancers, DocsByProxy utilizes a secure escrow system that safeguards funds until the specific retrieval task is verified as complete. This creates a "Gig Economy" for official errands, bringing speed, transparency, and safety to cross-border document retrieval anywhere in the world.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Docs by Proxy's answer:

The primary competitors are often high-cost international concierge firms or risky, unverified freelancers found on general job boards. Users choose Docs by Proxy for security and decentralized efficiency.

  • Safety: Our Escrow protection ensures you never lose money to a "ghosted" agent, regardless of the country they operate in.

  • Speed: We connect you with proxies who are already on the ground at the specific government office or institution you need, cutting out the delays of travel and dispatch.

  • Verification: Every proxy is vetted, and the platform enforces a strict proof-of-completion protocol before releasing payment, solving the "trust deficit" in remote errands.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Docs by Proxy's answer:

Our primary audience includes Expatriates, Global Citizens, and Digital Nomads who need to manage affairs in their home countries without traveling. This includes:

  • Professionals living abroad who need vital records (Birth/Marriage certificates) from their country of origin.

  • International students and alumni requiring academic transcripts from universities overseas.

  • Legal and immigration firms that need a reliable, scalable way to retrieve documents for clients across different jurisdictions.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Docs by Proxy's answer:

Docs by Proxy is built on a modern, scalable tech stack designed for cross-border security and seamless interaction. Key technologies include:

  • Secure Escrow Infrastructure: Custom-built financial logic to handle multi-currency holding and safe release of funds.

  • Global Identity Verification APIs: For vetting and authenticating local proxies across different regions.

  • Real-Time Notification System: To keep users updated on the status of their retrieval tasks instantly, regardless of time zones.

  • Responsive Web Framework: Ensuring full accessibility for users on mobile devices globally, from proxies in government offices to clients in the diaspora.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Docs by Proxy's answer:

  • Global Expatriates: Individuals living outside their home country who need official documentation for visas, dual citizenship, or legal matters.

  • Immigration & Visa Consultants: Agencies that process high volumes of applications and need a reliable partner to source supporting documents from various countries.

  • International Legal Professionals: Lawyers and firms requiring swift authentication of affidavits, court records, or corporate filings from foreign jurisdictions.

  • Study Abroad Alumni: Individuals needing physical retrieval and shipping of transcripts from universities in their home countries to credential evaluation services (like WES) abroad.

  • how to earn as a teenager in Lucknow?
I earned at 16-18, learn a skill and become fairly good at it. And make an account on Fiverr. upwork. freelancer.com, etc. Design, code, or anything which can be offered digitally. If you get an order on any of them double down on it. Cold reach-out works, but you've to show something to them as a portfolio. Instagram is a good place, as I did. Source: about 3 years ago
  • How does a very large youtube channel with many people working for it financially function?
If my subscribers and views were multiplied by 100, it would have become a part-time job. I would be declaring income on my tax form, and keeping track of expenses. I might be considering hiring part-time editors on freelancer.com, but since they'd be independent contractors, they'd be just an expense to me. They'd be responsible for their own taxes. • What are your problems in regard of freelancer.com?
I worked on freelancer.com for 3 months doing mostly side gigs. WIth the payment, it wasn't much of an issue for me. The first payment indeed, it was more "special", as in, it took 2 months until I got the money in my account. But any other payment after that, were processed within days (at worst).
