Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something. I don't use a 'method'. I use a timer for stuff I don't want to do. I use timer-tab.com A LOT and I also have one of those visual timers. I don't use it all day, and I don't use it for everything. If I need to do something that is boring as hell, like some routine thing for my job, I just set the timer for 10 or 20 minutes. That's it. There is no point in making it complicated. Timer-tab.com is also great, though you can't embed it in a PPT (at least not easily) - you can set any amount of time, the time will fit your window (great if you need to split the screen), and you can set the background and alarm sound. I had fun changing the background throughout the year for holidays, countdowns to break, test days, etc. Source: almost 4 years ago
