Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something. I'm on the record of loving the VSCode experience with Rust. And I do think that it's amazing that a "non-IDE" can feel so much like an IDE. However, I've recently pivoted off of that stance.
