Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something. Https://hetrixtools.com/ It's free if you don't have too many servers - 15 uptime monitors (the most useful) and 32 blacklist monitors (useful for e-mail, but don't know why you'd need so many compared to uptime). It's fairly easy to reach the free limits with not many servers if you're also monitoring VMs, but I've found it reliable so far. You can use "htop" command to view current CPU, RAM and SWAP usage, also see which process is taking up how much of each resource.
