A cutlist is a list of parts and dimensions needed for a project, cut from sheet or linear material. Cutlists can be generated manually or automatically with software like Sketchup. Cutlist optimization reduces wasted material, often done with automated software. Efficient algorithms balance speed and ease of cutting. Cutlist Evolution is a tool that calculates optimized cutlists, balancing efficiency and time taken. Optimizing cutlists is a complex challenge known as the 'stock cutting' problem, often requiring computing power and various approaches. Cutlist Evolution achieves over 90% efficiency reliably in tests.

Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something. Start small and stay away from bootcamps (my 2 cents). - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
