Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Fountain+ and Codegres.org.

What's the story behind your product?

Fountain+'s answer

I'm Pistol Taeja. I started in 2020 making manga and screenplays — got tired of breaking my flow to format scripts. Fountain+ began as my own screenwriting software for me; Mangaplay Studio came next when I needed panels too. Hand-built tools, no venture money, defending steel over slop.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Fountain+'s answer

Because the others either visually reformat your Doc and stop, cap you at 15 pages, or drag you into a separate SaaS. Fountain+ is a true Fountain to Final Draft converter — Docs in, industry file out. Fourteen languages. No account. No AI lock-in. No monthly bleed.

What makes your product unique?

Fountain+'s answer

It's the only free screenplay tool that lives inside Google Docs and walks out with a real .fdx, .fadein or PDF — no upload, no cap, no second editor. I built it because I was sick of writing in one place and exporting from another. Comic and manga pages included.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Fountain+'s answer

Working screenwriters, comic and manga writers, and Google Docs natives who refuse to switch editors just to hit "export." If you already draft in Docs and need Final Draft FDX export without paying Final Draft prices, you're who I built it for. Pros, hobbyists, and writers' rooms alike.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Fountain+'s answer

Pure JavaScript (ES2022+) with JSDoc types, Bun as runtime and bundler, parses the Fountain spec plus my Mangaplay extension. The Google Docs add-on is Apps Script. Everything is a browser-based screenplay converter — your file never uploads. Mostly Open Source on Github

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Fountain+'s answer

Honestly? Independent screenwriters, manga creators, and the long tail of Google Docs writers who found it through search. I'm chasing 100,000 downloads across my utilities by way of word-of-mouth, not enterprise logos. The best free screenwriting software wins users one writer at a time — that's the bet.
