Https://flatpak.org/ does this on Linux and someone else already pointed out, MacOS does this with app store apps. I don't like handing control to Apple so I much prefer the FlatPak solution - you get very detailed and fine grained control over what each app can see and it works fairly seamlessly. Logi's hardware is nice, but their software just freaking sucks the electrons out of a battery. It's awful. Just switched from logi options to Steer Mouse myself. You can map the buttons and add chords. The only thing it might lack is being able to use mouse movement as a trigger (eg hold the back button and move left to change spaces).
