Ecency is an open source social media app built on the decentralized Hive blockchain, where you can publish content, join communities, and take part in discussions. Your posts are published on-chain to your own Hive account, so you keep ownership of your content and it is not held by a central platform. There are no ads, and you can earn on-chain rewards from the Hive network for the posts you publish and for curating others' content. Ecency is available on the web, iOS, and Android.
Features: - Publish articles and blog posts, save multiple drafts, and schedule publishing. - Share short-form updates and read posts across the topics you are interested in. - Build and join communities around specific topics. - Comment on and discuss posts with other authors. - Vote on posts to help reward authors, and earn curation rewards from the network. - Use an in-app wallet for HIVE and HBD, and send funds to other accounts. - Earn Ecency Points for engagement, which you can use to boost or promote posts. - Sign in with your Hive keys using supported signers such as Hive Keychain, HiveSigner, and HiveAuth, without giving Ecency your master password. - Bookmark articles to read later. - Follow authors and see who follows you. - Get notifications for replies, mentions, and discussions you take part in. - Search posts, tags, and categories. - Personalize your profile.

Ecency's answer:
Ecency is open source and built on the Hive blockchain, so your posts and identity live on-chain under your own account instead of on a company's servers. You keep ownership of your content, there are no ads, and you earn on-chain rewards in HIVE and HBD for publishing and curating. The same account works across web, iOS and Android, and Ecency adds its own Points system for rewarding and boosting content.
Ecency's answer:
Unlike centralized platforms, Ecency cannot deplatform you or sell your data, because your content and audience live on the Hive blockchain rather than on Ecency's servers. Compared to other Hive front-ends, Ecency stands out for its native iOS and Android apps alongside the web app, plus features like Ecency Points, communities, drafts, scheduling, and a built-in wallet. It is open source and free, with no ads.
Ecency's answer:
Writers, bloggers, content creators and community builders who want to own their work and earn directly from it, along with readers and communities who value decentralized, censorship-resistant social media. It fits people in the Hive and wider web3 ecosystem, as well as creators looking for an ad-free alternative to centralized blogging and social networks.
Ecency's answer:
Ecency began in 2016 as eSteem, one of the first open-source mobile apps for the Steem blockchain, created to bring decentralized social media to phones. After Hive forked from Steem in 2020, the project rebranded to Ecency and launched ecency.com on July 22, 2020, expanding across web and mobile with communities, an in-app wallet, and creator rewards. It remains open source and community-driven.
Ecency's answer:
The web app is built with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Next.js (React). The iOS and Android apps are built with React Native. Content storage, accounts, and on-chain rewards run on the Hive blockchain. Ecency is open source under the MIT license, with code at github.com/ecency.

What's the easiest way to determine which version of Flask is installed? Source: about 4 years ago
I'm looking at the WSGI specification and I'm trying to figure out how servers like uWSGI fit into the picture. I understand the point of the WSGI spec is to separate web servers like nginx from web applications like something you'd write using Flask. What I don't understand is what uWSGI is for. Why can't nginx directly call my Flask application? Can't flask speak WSGI directly to it? Why does uWSGI need to get... Source: over 4 years ago
