Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing fitbit and ZonePoints.app.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ZonePoints.app's answer:

ZonePoints is so reliable because it stores session heart rate data immediately as it is recorded, meaning even if you run out of battery or your phone runs out of memory, the results of your hard work are kept safe. Using Health Connect, you can score zone points from activities recorded on other fitness apps like Fitbit, Google Health, Peloton, Concept2, Garmin, and Samsung Health.

What makes your product unique?

ZonePoints.app's answer:

ZonePoints turns heart rate effort into one simple, comparable number instead of scattering your data across pace, steps, and calories. Every minute in each of five heart-rate zones earns precise weighted points (1.0 up to 6.0), so a hard 20-minute interval session and an easy hour-long jog are both captured on the same scale. Effort is effort, regardless of activity type.

A few things set it apart from typical fitness trackers:

  • Radically simple to start โ€” connect a Bluetooth heart rate monitor and the session begins automatically, no separate "start" tap, no pause/resume to fiddle with, and no account or registration screen to get through first. Just stop when you're done.
  • Hardware-agnostic โ€” works instantly with any BLE heart rate monitor (Garmin, Polar H10, Wahoo TICKR, Coospo, etc.), not locked to one ecosystem.
  • Streak Save โ€” a missed weekly target won't always break your streak. If you earn an extra 2x what you missed the next week your streak continues, rewarding consistency over perfection.
  • Privacy-first โ€” free, no account, no ads, and all data stays on-device.
  • Backed by real exercise science, not guesswork โ€” calorie and EPOC "afterburn" estimates use published VOโ‚‚max and submaximal-exercise formulas (Karvonen/Swain, Uthโ€“Sรธrensen), and zone alerts are spoken aloud so you can train hands-free without checking your phone.
  • Plays well with your existing ecosystem โ€” two-way Health Connect sync with Garmin, Fitbit, Pixel, and Galaxy devices, plus CSV export.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ZonePoints.app's answer:

Multi-sports people who combine different types of workouts and want to ensure they are pushing themselves consistently reach their fitness goal. ZonePoints tracks your total cardio training effort using your heart rate and sets you a weekly goal.

If you only do running or cycling there are likely better apps which focus on distance and pace. But if you want to track the actual aerobic work you put into any exercise, which actually makes you fitter, this is the app for you.

What's the story behind your product?

ZonePoints.app's answer:

We saw there was a gap in the market for free Bluetooth heart rate trackers that do not need you to sign up to get started. It grew from there to become a full training tracker with the introduction of weekly targets, streaks and voice alerts.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ZonePoints.app's answer:

Jetpack Compose, Material Design 3, Firebase
