Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Fern and SheetsInterview.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SheetsInterview's answer:

Using Next.js, Prisma, Render.com, PostgreSQL.

What makes your product unique?

SheetsInterview's answer:

It's the first interviewing platform that solely focuses on interviewing hard spreadsheet skills, either Excel or Google Sheets. With the web-based spread sheet playground candidates can solve tasks directly in their browser.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SheetsInterview's answer:

It is a cheap and great alternative if you look for high-quality spread sheet interview tasks.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SheetsInterview's answer:

Our primary audience is HR and recruitment professionals that want to speed up their process of evaluating Excel/Google Sheet skills. Currently, the process is mostly sending out an Excel sheet to the candidate, receiving it back (hopefully), evaluating it, and communicating with the candidate. SheetsInterview automates a lot of this process.

What's the story behind your product?

SheetsInterview's answer:

I am a software engineer at heart and was always wondering why the interview process in other industries was not testing hard skills like we do in software engineering. Google Sheets and Excel are used in almost any business, but skills are never properly accessed.

  • Anthropic Acquires Stainless
Stainless is way more than just the codegen. If youโ€™re curious I did write some details when responding to another comment: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48191376. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Anthropic Acquires Stainless
We evaluated Stainless, Fern [1], and a few others for Docs & SDKs (soon, CLI) and ended up choosing Fern. Definitely glad we did after today's news. Hadn't seen WorkOS's work here though - thanks for sharing. [1] https://buildwithfern.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Redefining our SDKs Developer Experience
After evaluating multiple SDK-as-a-service vendors, including Speakeasy, Fern and Liblab, we selected Speakeasy as our strategic partner. Speakeasyโ€™s philosophy aligns with our mission to deliver an outstanding developer experience. Hereโ€™s why weโ€™re excited about this partnership:. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago

  • Show HN: REST Alternative to GraphQL and tRPC
Thank you for your encouraging words and insights! There are indeed popular DSLs and code to openapi solutions out there. Many of which are easy to plug in to the openapi-stack libraries btw! I guess I personally always found it frustrating to try to control the generated OpenAPI output using additional tooling and ended up preferring yaml + a visualisation tool as the api design workflow. • Ask HN: Show me your half baked project
Https://sheetsinterview.com/ Lots of rough spots. Especially the UI is not great right now but I also could not find a lot of traction so far. Also: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sheetshortcut/fnbbfcbcjofincdchimadnhoonbmdkic An extension to show shortcuts as a popup for google sheets or excel 365. Never really polished it or created a landing page around it. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
