Possible disadvantages of ExpressJS

  • Minimalist Core
The minimalist nature of ExpressJS may require additional time and effort to integrate required plugins and libraries for specific features.
  • Learning Curve
While ExpressJS is straightforward, mastering the middleware pattern and effective usage can have a learning curve for new developers.
  • Callback Hell
Developers can encounter 'callback hell' due to nested callback functions, though this can be mitigated using Promises and async/await in modern JavaScript.
  • Lack of Convention
Unlike opinionated frameworks, ExpressJS lacks conventions, which can lead to inconsistent code structure and maintenance challenges across different projects.
  • Security
ExpressJS does not have built-in security features and relies on third-party solutions, requiring developers to be vigilant about applying best security practices.
  • Scalability
While ExpressJS can handle high traffic, building and maintaining a highly scalable application might require significant additional effort, particularly in terms of codebase organization and resource management.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing ExpressJS and urur.dev.

What makes your product unique?

urur.dev's answer:

urur.dev focuses on one thing: validating ideas before you build. Unlike feature request tools (Canny) or launch platforms (Product Hunt), urur.dev lets you test demand at the idea stage โ€” before writing a single line of code. Browse freely, sign in to vote and engage.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

urur.dev's answer:

It's simple and free. No signup required to browse ideas. Sign in to vote "Want!" and track ideas you care about. Post your idea, share the link, and see if real people want it โ€” validation in minutes, not months.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

urur.dev's answer:

Indie developers and solo founders who build side projects. People who've wasted time building something nobody wanted and don't want to make that mistake again.

What's the story behind your product?

urur.dev's answer:

I spent 6 months building a side project nobody wanted. Twice. I realized the problem wasn't my code โ€” it was building without validation. So I created urur.dev โ€” the name comes from "uru uru" (ๅฃฒใ‚‹ๅฃฒใ‚‹), Japanese for "sell sell." The idea is simple: find your customers before you build, not after. A place where you can test if anyone actually wants your idea before you invest your nights and weekends building it.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

urur.dev's answer:

HonoX (Hono + Islands architecture), Cloudflare Pages, Supabase (PostgreSQL + Auth), Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Resend for email notifications.
