This sort of thing comes up all the time. I remember back in the VB6 days experts-exchange.com was full of questions like, "how do I put 2.5 million rows in a listview quickly?" and the answer, of course, is "you don't; nobody is going to scroll through 2.5 million rows.". Source: about 5 years ago
