Every insight can be traced: ask where it came from and it quotes the lines you wrote.

Go microservices, SvelteKit (the app, installable as a PWA), Next.js (the website), PostgreSQL, Qdrant for search by meaning, Redis, and AWS. Insights are generated through the OpenAI and Google Gemini APIs.

Regular journals felt like shouting into the void, and note apps were either too structured (Obsidian) or not structured enough (Apple Notes). I wanted something in between: write however I like, and have the patterns I couldn't see myself come back to me. You can't surprise yourself. Cipher is my attempt to work around that bug.

People who already write things down, or want to: journallers, people who think in notes, people working through decisions, and people reflecting on how they feel. It suits anyone who wants to understand their own patterns. It's a reflection tool, not therapy, and it doesn't diagnose anything.
