Equilaz helps roommates, couples, and friend groups split shared expenses without the drama. Log an expense once and it automatically calculates who owes whom.

Unlike Splitwise or Tricount, Equilaz is 100% free with no daily limits, natively supports purchases paid in installments (tracking each installment as its own payment), and handles multiple currencies (ARS/UYU/USD) at once โ€” built for Latin American users where these are everyday realities, not edge cases.

Beyond splitting expenses, Equilaz also supports recurring expenses (rent, utilities), savings goals, and net-worth tracking including investments.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Equilaz and Settle Up.

What makes your product unique?

Equilaz's answer

Equilaz natively handles two things almost no bill-splitting app gets right: purchases paid in installments (tracked as individual payments automatically) and multi-currency balances (ARS/UYU/USD) โ€” both everyday realities in Argentina and LatAm that global apps like Splitwise weren't built for.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Equilaz's answer

No daily usage limits โ€” every feature is free. Beyond splitting expenses, Equilaz also covers savings goals and net-worth tracking, so couples and groups can manage shared and personal finances in one place instead of juggling a spreadsheet plus an app.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Equilaz's answer

People who already track their expenses somehow โ€” a spreadsheet, a notes app โ€” and want it automated: roommates, couples, and friend groups in Argentina and Latin America managing shared costs like rent, trips, or group purchases.

What's the story behind your product?

Equilaz's answer

The founder built Equilaz after he and his partner got tired of maintaining an Excel spreadsheet to split expenses โ€” creating a new sheet every time they settled up, tracking installments by hand, and keeping a separate file just for trips because the original only worked in pesos. Equilaz automates exactly that.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Equilaz's answer

React, TypeScript, and Vite for the web app; React Native (Expo) for the mobile app; Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL on the backend.
