EmailEngine is an email client for apps. IMAP and SMTP are hard, so let EmailEngine handle these for you. Run REST API calls to interact with email servers and receive webhooks for changes on tracked email accounts.
With EmailEngine, you can focus on building features that matter instead of spending time rolling custom IMAP and SMTP connectivity logic.

Here is a very similar project: https://emailengine.app/ Similar to Bichon, it also has a commercial license[1]: > EmailEngine is not free open-source software. It is "source available" software, meaning you can view and copy the source code, but you need a paid subscription[2] to run it beyond the free 14-day trial. Each EmailEngine instance comes with this trial, so you can test EmailEngine without any... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
When I started with https://emailengine.app, a similar product, I also considered releasing it as a SaaS. But looking at the competition, it seemed too complicated for me (just look at the compliance list for Nylas Email API https://www.nylas.com/security/#compliance ). Will be interesting to see how it works out for you. Good luck! - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Oh, yeah, I forgot my pitch. The link is https://emailengine.app - EnailEngine acts as a mail client, basically the same way Thunderbird runs on desktop, or the iPhone Mail on phone, but instead of a GUI it has REST API and instead of desktop notifications it sends JSON webhooks. And instead of a single email account, it can manage thousands of accounts. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
Well, I for one, hope that email stays as complicated as described in the post. Otherwise my project that simplifies access to email accounts (https://emailengine.app) would get no traction :D. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
I'd like to know if anyone here can share some experience using https://emailengine.app in a larger environment, e.g. Managing / watching 100-200 email accounts and processing ~50.000-100.000 mails per day? Source: over 3 years ago
Technical implementation should include privacy controls as core features, not afterthoughts. Build data export functionality, implement secure deletion processes, and provide transparency reports showing what data you've collected and shared. Open-source privacy tools like Tor and Matrix provide excellent examples of privacy-first architecture design. - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago
Matrix is an open, decentralized communication protocol for real-time messaging, voice, and video. Synapse is the reference homeserver implementation -- the software you run to participate in the Matrix network. Think of it like email: you run your own server, but you can communicate with anyone on any other Matrix server worldwide. - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago
Matrix is the decentralized Slack of the future (or present really!). - Source: dev.to / 7 months ago
/me sighs; Merry Christmas everyone. For what it's worth, we've been working on improving Matrix's metadata footprint this year: MSC4362 (https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-spec-proposals/blob/kaylendog/msc/simplified-encrypted-state/proposals/4362-simplified-encrypted-state.md) got implemented on matrix-js-sdk for encrypting room state (currently behind a labs flag on Element Web). Meanwhile more radical... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
I think most of these are built using Matrix: https://matrix.org. They have connections with most providers like iMessage, FB, Instagram, etc. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
