Flowpainter turns a messy process into a client-ready diagram in minutes — not hours.

Most process-diagramming tools force an awkward choice: sketch something quick and messy in a generic flowchart tool, or wrestle with a heavyweight BPMN suite built for process-automation engineers. Flowpainter sits exactly in between.

What makes it different

  • One diagram, two views. Sketch fast in a clean, card-based view, then flip to formal BPMN 2.0 notation with a single click — swimlanes, gateways, start/end events, all correctly rendered — when it's time to present.
  • Context most tools throw away. Every step can carry the role responsible, the tool/system it runs on, its input and output, and a comment — so a diagram doubles as real process documentation, not just a pretty picture.
  • Client-ready exports. PDF and PNG for quick sharing, or fully editable PowerPoint (PPTX) when a client needs to tweak it themselves.
  • No seat minimums. Many tools force small teams to pay for five seats to use one. Flowpainter doesn't.
  • Cloud-synced. Log in from any device and pick up exactly where you left off.

Who it's for

Independent consultants who need a clear diagram for a proposal or kickoff deck. Freelance project managers documenting a client's workflow without buying a suite they'll use once. Small teams who need everyone aligned on who owns what.

Pricing

Free plan includes one active project, no credit card required. Pro is €19/month for unlimited projects — still with no seat minimums.

If your job involves explaining "how this actually works" to a client or a team, Flowpainter is built for exactly that moment.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing E-Flow and Flowpainter.online.

What makes your product unique?

Flowpainter.online's answer:

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Flowpainter.online's answer:

Compared to generic diagram tools (Lucidchart, Miro, draw.io): Flowpainter is built specifically around process documentation, not general-purpose diagramming. Every step carries the role responsible, the tool/system it runs on, its input, output, and a comment — that context is what makes a diagram useful six months later, not just at the moment you drew it.

Compared to enterprise BPMN suites (Camunda Modeler, Bizagi Modeler): Those tools are built for process-automation engineers who need to hand a model to an execution engine. If you just need a clear, professional diagram for a client proposal or a kickoff, that's a lot of tool — and a lot of learning curve — for a simple job. Flowpainter skips both.

Compared to tools with seat-based pricing minimums: A common pattern in this space forces solo consultants or two-person teams to pay for five seats they'll never use. Flowpainter doesn't.

In short, Flowpainter Pro gives you: - One diagram, two views — flip instantly between a quick working sketch and formal BPMN 2.0 notation - Export to PDF, PNG, or fully editable PowerPoint — not just static images - Pricing and scale built for how small teams actually work, not for enterprise procurement

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Flowpainter.online's answer:

Independent consultants, freelance project managers, and small teams or agencies (roughly 1-5 people) who need to document a process clearly — for a client proposal, a kickoff meeting, or internal onboarding — without learning or paying for a heavyweight enterprise BPM suite. They value speed and clarity over deep configurability, and they're usually the ones both drawing the diagram and presenting it to the client or team.

What's the story behind your product?

Flowpainter.online's answer:

Flowpainter grew out of a simple frustration: process diagrams either come out of a generic flowchart tool that doesn't understand who owns a step or what system it runs on, or out of a full BPMN suite built for process-automation engineers running execution engines — overkill for someone who just needs a clear, professional diagram for a client. Flowpainter started as a personal tool to bridge that gap, built around the idea that a diagram should double as real documentation (role, tool, input/output, comments per step) while staying as quick to use as a sketch. It's an independent, solo-built product, still early — shaped directly by feedback from its first users.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?
