Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing DocOtto and Codegres.org.

What makes your product unique?

DocOtto's answer

DocOtto is the only platform that combines document automation, e-signatures, and AI-powered invoice extraction in a single tool built specifically for small service businesses. Instead of paying for separate subscriptions to DocuSign, JotForm, and Dext, businesses get all three capabilities for $79/month. Our AI invoice extraction processes invoices at $0.012 each — a fraction of what competitors charge — and our customer document portals require no account creation, reducing friction for end users. While enterprise tools like PandaDoc and DocuSign are built for sales teams, DocOtto is designed for trades and field service companies that need simple, affordable document workflows without the complexity.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

DocOtto's answer

Most document tools are built for enterprise sales teams and priced accordingly. DocOtto is built for small service businesses that need simple, reliable document workflows without paying $50+/user/month. With DocOtto, you get three tools in one — document automation, e-signatures, and AI invoice extraction — so there's no need to stitch together multiple subscriptions. Our customer portals let your clients review and sign documents without creating an account, our AI extracts invoice data with 95% accuracy in seconds, and everything is managed from a single dashboard. If you're a small business tired of overpaying for features you don't use, DocOtto gives you exactly what you need at a price that makes sense.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

DocOtto's answer

Small service-based businesses with 1-25 employees, particularly in field service industries like pool and spa, HVAC, landscaping, plumbing, and similar trades. These are companies that deal with a high volume of customer-facing paperwork — service agreements, work orders, onboarding forms, vendor invoices — but don't have the budget or need for enterprise document platforms. They're typically owner-operated, not very tech-savvy, and looking for something that just works without a steep learning curve or expensive per-user pricing.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

DocOtto's answer

DocOtto is a newly launched platform and we're currently onboarding our first customers in the pool and spa, home services, catering, venue rental, and event management industries. We're focused on building strong relationships with early adopters and refining the product based on real-world feedback from small service businesses.

What's the story behind your product?

DocOtto's answer

DocOtto started from firsthand experience watching small service businesses drown in paperwork. Pool and spa companies, HVAC shops, and other trades were juggling paper forms, chasing signatures over email, and manually entering invoice data — wasting hours every week on work that should be automated. The enterprise tools existed but were overbuilt, overpriced, and designed for a completely different type of user. DocOtto was built to fill that gap — a simple, affordable platform where a small business owner can create a document, send it to a customer, get it signed, and process their invoices all in one place without needing an IT department to set it up.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

DocOtto's answer

DocOtto is built on Next.js and TypeScript for a fast, modern web experience, with Supabase providing the database and authentication layer. E-signatures and document rendering are handled through custom-built workflows, and our AI invoice extraction is powered by Anthropic's Claude API for accurate, cost-effective document processing. Payments and subscriptions are managed through Stripe, and email delivery is handled via Resend. The entire platform is designed for reliability and speed, with secure API routes, rate limiting, and audit trails built in from the ground up.
