What's the story behind your product?

DJ.Studio's answer

Several combined elements inspired me for the idea of DJ.Studio. It was something I had always needed, although I didnโ€™t know exactly what it was going to look like, or how it would be possible."

Siebrand Dijkstra used MixMeister a lot back in the day. This was a type of DJ Software with timeline functionality that was somewhere in-between a DAW-style workflow, and the traditional live mixing approach. It was a DAW for DJs, but it hasn't been updated in the past few years.

One of the developers of Dijkstra's development team worked during COVID on a synthesizer that ran in a web browser, which used the GPU to do some cool stuff. He wanted people to build musical instruments for his new browser-based audio engine.

This was the moment Siebrand Dijkstra had his epiphany: if you could create digital music in the browser, then surely you could also mix music in the browser too?

Siebrand Dijkstra is a serial software entrepreneur with a lot of experience in building software. "In my life, Iโ€™ve gone through countless product life cycles. Success is all about execution. If you have a good idea, Google it. Google how other people execute it, learn from it, and come up with a better plan of execution. It's not just about good ideas; it's about execution.

Before I started building DJ.Studio, I Googled and Googled and Googled. When you Google "DAW for DJs", you'll find Ableton, Fruity Loops, and Logic. You'll find all the usual suspects - but they are not DAWs for DJ mixes, they're DAWs for music production. I could only find MixMeister. I used that software for years, but it has been deprecated for a few years now. "

That's when Dijkstra decided to start building a DAW for DJs with his own developers.

DJ.Studio Reviews

  1. Incredible product from an equally incredible team!

I was looking for a replacement for Mixmeister, and stumbled across DJ Studio. I am not someone who parts with their money easily for software, but I have never been so quick to pay for the Pro version after my trial expired! In the short time that I have been using DJ Studio (a matter of months) I have seen multiple useful additions to the software. The team is so clearly passionate about their product and rightly so. They respond to and act on user feedback quickly. Their customer service is incredible. Thank you Siebrand, Fleur and the whole DJ Studio team!

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: Mixmeister
    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Learning curve|Functionality|High quality|Great customer support|Good price|Regular updates|Great communication
    ๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    None
  2. A game changer in every way!

I've been praying for a very long time that someone would bring out something like this. It is absolutely outstanding, I've now been using it for a few months and with each update it just gets better and better.

    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Intuitive user interface
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    None that i can think of

ยท CEO at Omnipotence Music Inc. ยท
Perfect workflow for radio/stream mixes & great support

I'm using the software now for about 8 weeks and it if far (!) better than any other DJ mix software I've used before. Even though that I'm a music producer with a lot of Ableton Live experience - when it comes to ease of workflow DJ.Studio as a dedicated took beats also Live and is even able to export it to Ableton again, where I can add all the creative stuff (shimmer risers etc.) there later on.

Last but not least: there was a sound rendering issue that I reported to the team and minutes later Siebrand, the CEO, answered back with analysis questions. Days later this was fixed in an update. So also the support is flawless. Keep up the great work!

๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Workflow focused|Very easy to learn|Export to ableton live|Auto-mix suggestions|Quality of the rendered audio|Quality of the transition types
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    A bit heavy on cpu & graphics

  • DJ With Apple Music launches to enable subscribers to mix their own sets
I steer clear of Apple products, but I've still had a lot of fun in this space thanks to DJ Studio (https://dj.studio/), a desktop app that helps make offline (rather than real-time) mixes. I use it to make a monthly personal mixtape, which is a nice way to remember what I used to listen to. They call it a "DAW for DJs," which is accurate. I especially admire the team that makes it. • Creating Recorded Mixes
Sidenote: Yesterday I started playing around with https://dj.studio/ because it was advertised to make it look really easy to create mixes, but in reality it only works well if you are super strict with the songs and their BPM, and is quite hard to work with non-EDM, loosely phrased songs (even then, the beat sync feature is way off half the time). I'm curious what other software is out there that ya'll use and... Source: over 2 years ago
