What's the story behind your product?

The idea came from a consulting project where clients sent daily Excel updates during a transformation project. We needed to track and compare what have been changed in Excel tables and Excel spreadsheets if compliance requirements are maintained with each change.

We come from a software engineering background and were used to having first class testing, linting, comparision and automation support in software. Once we built more complex spreadsheets we quickly realised this does not exist in the Excel world and instead everyone relies on strict discipline to avoid these mistaken. So we set out to build SheetDelta, the tool we wanted ourselves.
