Hello, as always: imho. (!) idk the exact procedure which will apply to enter the birth-date on such a system, but if other comments are correct: just enter what you want! There will be no real possibility to tie this to anything "legal" / to "enforce" any "official" check of lets say your passport or other governmental id. And if in my personal opinion (!) the pretty crazy guy behind the systemd-project tries to... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
I'm a new user with first install. Are there any user guides / admin guides available? I'm not seeing much documentation available at devuan.org -- maybe my eyes glaze over(?). Source: over 3 years ago
If Canonical spin a variant without systemd, possibly choosing Devuan as the base, it'll be great. Possibly, less resource hungry. Source: over 4 years ago
Trisquel's FAQ says: > Why should I use Trisquel instead of one of the better-known distributions? > There are literally hundreds of GNU/Linux distributions designed to fill every conceivable niche. Only a handful of them are entirely free software; Trisquel is one such distribution. ... But I disagree. Trisquel is based on ubuntu, and uses systemd. If you're experienced, look at Devuan Chimaera. BTW, I always felt Gnome is the most productive work environment with that UI. I think Cinnamon may come close. Source: almost 5 years ago
It's still around in its spiritual successor! https://crunchbangplusplus.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
You might also want to look at a distro set up to run something like OpenBox instead of a full desktop environment. It's pretty easy to add a lightweight panel (like tint2 or fbpanel) and get something like a Chromebook interface, but with a full linux distro behind it. Check out Crunchbang++. AntiX also has Fluxbox, if I'm not mistaken. Source: about 3 years ago
You could try CrunchBangPlusPlus, that's Debian stable with the Openbox window manager: https://crunchbangplusplus.org/. Source: about 3 years ago
If you'd like to tinker with this, CrunchBangPlusPlus is a Debian-based Openbox though the kernel and mesa are a little old now, or Fedora has a spin with i3 which is newer so probably better for gaming. You can also try install these window manager packages on your current distro. Source: about 3 years ago
If you want a terrible desktop. I would personally recommend some kind of basic window manager setup like the ones provided by chrunchbangplusplus, or bunsenlabs. However I can only really recommend the desktop setup and not the distro itself as I have no idea how they are managed. You might need to change the repos to the standard debian ones.
