How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Barometer.today's answer:

People who physically notice pressure changes: headaches, joints, sinuses, sleep. There is a second, smaller audience of pilots, divers, brewers and anyone else who needs a real pressure figure for a calculation.

What makes your product unique?

Barometer.today's answer:

It answers in a sentence instead of a chart. Every other source shows barometric pressure as a number in a table and leaves you to work out whether that is high, low, rising or about to turn.

Barometer.today states the trend in plain language for any city in nine languages. It is the site built around pressure as the subject rather than as a footnote to a forecast.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Barometer.today's answer:

Because it is readable without any weather knowledge, and it is honest about what it will not do. No account, no tracking, no health advice.

What's the story behind your product?

Barometer.today's answer:

It is the fifth in a family of small single-purpose weather sites. The earlier ones covered variables that public agencies are required to publish: UV index, air quality, pollen.

Air pressure has no such mandate and therefore no decent page anywhere, while people search for it constantly. The first build had an hourly chart and trend statistics, and it was wrong for the audience. Everything statistical came off the front page and one sentence replaced it. That version shipped.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Barometer.today's answer:

  • Next.js and React in TypeScript, with next-intl for the nine locales and Tailwind for styling.
  • Maps are Leaflet with vector tiles served from PMTiles.
  • Weather data comes from a self-hosted Open-Meteo instance rather than a third-party API, with an in-house geocoding service behind it.
  • Everything runs on dedicated hardware behind Cloudflare in Docker.

None. It is a free consumer site with no accounts, no paid tier and no business customers.
