DasticOSDasticOS's answer
We're early and our schools haven't opted into being named publicly yet.
DasticOS's answer
DasticOS is built for how Nigerian schools actually run, not adapted from a Western school system. Three terms in a September–August session, Naira fees, state of origin, affective and psychomotor skill grading on the report card, and a class ladder that runs from crèche through SS3 — all of it is the default, not a configuration exercise.
Two things set it apart in practice. First, CBT is part of the platform, not a separate product: question bank by topic, scheduled exam windows, anti-cheat proctoring that records tab switches and copy-paste attempts, and a conduct log the teacher can actually read. Second, admissions is self-service — parents fill in their own child's details through a link the school can switch on and off, upload the documents, and the record lands in the database without an administrator retyping it.
It also runs on ordinary shared hosting. No cloud bill, no dedicated server.
DasticOS's answer
Most school software in this market either costs more than a small private school can justify, or gives you a student register and charges extra for everything else. DasticOS ships the whole thing: students, staff, parents, fees, grades and report cards, attendance, CBT, homework, lesson notes, timetable, noticeboard, library, live classes and admissions — with per-school module switches so a school turns on only what it uses.
Three specifics worth comparing directly:
CBT with proctoring is included, not an add-on. Parents enter their own data at admission and enrolment, so the office isn't typing 300 forms. Everything is filed by academic session, so a new year starts clean and last year's work is one click away rather than cluttering every list.
DasticOS's answer
Private nursery, primary and secondary schools in Nigeria — typically 100 to 2,000 pupils, with a proprietor or head teacher making the decision and an administrator or bursar using it daily.
Day to day there are five kinds of user: administrators running admissions, fees and records; teachers setting homework, lesson notes and CBT exams and entering scores; students taking exams and submitting work; parents tracking fees, results and attendance for one or more children; and the platform owner managing schools and plans.
It suits schools that have outgrown spreadsheets and WhatsApp but can't justify enterprise pricing or an IT department.
DasticOS's answer
PHP 8.2 with PDO, no framework — deliberately, so it runs on any shared host without a build step or a deployment pipeline MySQL / MariaDB, 82 tables, multi-tenant with every query scoped to a school Vanilla JavaScript, progressively enhanced — every page works without it Chart.js for analytics, mammoth.js and pdf.js for reading Word and PDF material in the browser Apache and LiteSpeed, currently hosted on Hostinger Installable as a PWA, with an Android build
DasticOS's answer
DasticOS started from watching Nigerian schools run on paper registers, WhatsApp groups and a spreadsheet that only one person understood. The existing software was either priced for large schools or built elsewhere and bent to fit — asking for a "grade point average" where a school needed a three-term report card with affective traits on it.
It began as one school's system and became a platform when the second school asked for it.
