StemGrab splits a song into seven separate stems โ€” vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, other, plus a mixed instrumental โ€” straight in the browser. No account, no watermark, no daily limit, and the free version is not a trial.

How it works. Two purpose-built models run on a dedicated GPU: one tuned for the vocal remover and karaoke mode, and one for the full seven-stem split. Output is 192 kbps MP3 plus a zip. It accepts MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC and OGG up to 20 minutes or 2 GB. Uploads are deleted immediately after processing.

Key and tempo detection. Every upload also gets its musical key with scale, the matching Camelot code for harmonic DJ mixing, and the BPM, shown above the stems. This is read from the audio, so it is an estimate: reliable on steady-tempo studio recordings, sometimes ambiguous between a key and its relative major or minor.

What people use it for. Removing vocals from a song, pulling an acapella for a mashup or sample, making a karaoke or backing track, getting a drumless or bassless version to play along to, isolating one instrument to learn a part by ear, and getting stems for a remix or DJ edit.

Honest about the limits. Vocals, drums and bass separate cleanly on most modern mixes; guitar and piano are experimental stems and can be rougher.

Pricing. The tool is free. There is one optional purchase: a โ‚ฌ5 month pass, valid 30 days from your first track rather than from payment. It adds longer tracks, several uploads at once, uncompressed WAV, play-along mixes, slow-down and transpose practice tools, results kept for 24 hours instead of 45 minutes, priority in the queue and no ads. It is a one-off purchase, not a subscription, and it does not change the separation quality โ€” free and paid run the same model on the same hardware. One pass also works on the other Shinobi Tools sites.

  • OK tell the truth, what is the most number of times you misjudged the amount of wood you need for a project, and had to go get more? More than 3?
i'm trying to figure out how much wood I need to buy for my next project. can't use cutlistoptimizer.com because it does only sheet goods and I want linear (just boards). Anybody know of an optimizer for that? Source: over 3 years ago
  • Project cut list at lumber yard?

  • Hardest project to date...super proud of this built in closet
I used cutlistoptimizer.com I highly recommend it. I also increase the kerf size to give me more tolerance to make sure I can rough cut it with a circular saw before I tidy those edges on the table saw. Source: about 4 years ago
  • ISO Plans for a unit like this
I use sites like cut list optimizer to help reduce wastage of materials once I have the size I want a piece to be. Maybe that would help? Source: about 4 years ago
  • Best way of planning cuts to use the least amount of waste
If you have a big project with lots of plywood, cutlistoptimizer.com is great. If you're working mostly in solid lumber, I do it just like you: put your cuts in a list and start dividing them into boards. It usually doesn't take that long, and sometimes there are other considerations that will make any lumber list irrelevant. Maybe a certain piece needs to be knot-free, or knot-free in the last 6", or whatever.... Source: about 4 years ago
