Custom Domain is fully managed infrastructure for letting your users bring their own domain to your product.

Your users should never touch DNS. They love your product right up until you hand them a CNAME and a registrar login. One wrong record, one 48-hour wait, one support ticket, and the domain that was supposed to make you look legit makes you look broken.

Custom Domain replaces that whole step with one button. Your user types the domain they want to connect. They click once and sign in to their own DNS host, so no credentials ever touch you. We fingerprint the provider, write the exact A, CNAME and TXT records, verify them end to end, and issue the certificate before the first request. You get a webhook, and their domain just works.

What you get:

  • Automatic DNS. Exact A, CNAME and TXT records, written and verified end to end.
  • Automatic SSL. Certificates issued before the first request and renewed ahead of expiry.
  • 63+ DNS providers, over OAuth and Domain Connect rails, with a manual fallback. Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Amazon Route 53, Azure DNS, Google Cloud DNS, DigitalOcean, Vercel and Netlify among them.
  • No stored secrets. End users authorize their own provider, and the grant is used once and discarded.
  • White-label. Your colours, logo, copy and dark mode, so it stays your brand.
  • Drift monitoring. We re-check every hour and re-issue on change, so you hear about a moved record before your customer does.
  • Status API and webhooks for every state change.
  • Optional edge. Serve customer domains from our edge, or verify and hand DNS back to your own stack.

Built for developers: a REST API and typed SDKs, a drop-in widget you add as one script or npm package, and an MCP server so AI agents can connect domains too.

There is a free tier for your first customer domains, and paid plans start at $149 per month.

Custom domain services often simplify the technical process of connecting a domain to email, websites, or other platforms, making it accessible for non-technical users.
  • Niche Focus
By specializing specifically in custom domains, the service may offer more tailored features and expertise compared to general-purpose domain registrars.
  • Time Savings
Automating domain name generation and setup can significantly reduce the time it takes to launch a website or professional email compared to manual research and configuration.

AI suggestions may help users find domain names that better align with their brand identity, business name, or industry keywords.

React Engine features and specs

  • Isomorphic rendering
React Engine enables both server-side and client-side rendering of React components, providing a seamless isomorphic/universal JavaScript experience. This allows for faster initial page loads and better SEO while maintaining rich client-side interactivity.
  • Express.js integration
React Engine is designed as a view engine for Express.js, making it easy to integrate React into existing Express-based applications with minimal configuration. It follows familiar Express conventions for setting up view engines.
  • Built-in React Router support
The library comes with built-in support for React Router, enabling developers to easily set up server-side and client-side routing without complex manual configuration.
  • PayPal backing
React Engine was developed and maintained by PayPal, which provided credibility and ensured it was battle-tested in a large-scale production environment before being open-sourced.
  • Simplified setup
The library abstracts away much of the complexity involved in setting up server-side rendering with React, reducing boilerplate code and allowing developers to get a universal React application running quickly.

Possible disadvantages of React Engine

  • Abandoned project
The repository appears to be no longer actively maintained, with no recent commits or updates. This makes it risky to use in production as bugs and security vulnerabilities may go unpatched.
  • Outdated dependencies
React Engine was built for older versions of React and React Router. It may not be compatible with modern versions of React (16+, 17, 18) or React Router (v5, v6), limiting its usefulness in current projects.
  • Limited ecosystem support
The library is tightly coupled to Express.js, meaning it cannot be easily used with other Node.js frameworks like Koa, Hapi, or Fastify, reducing its flexibility.
  • Better modern alternatives
Modern tools like Next.js, Remix, and Vite with SSR plugins provide far more comprehensive and well-maintained solutions for server-side rendering with React, making React Engine largely obsolete.
  • Limited documentation and community
The project has relatively sparse documentation and a small community, making it difficult for new developers to troubleshoot issues or find examples and best practices for advanced use cases.

Analysis of React Engine

Overall verdict

  • Unable to verify a project specifically named 'React Engine' on GitHub with confidence, as this does not correspond to a widely recognized or well-documented open-source project that I have reliable information about. There may be multiple small or niche repositories using this name, and quality would vary significantly between them.

Why this product is good

  • React Engine is not a commonly recognized name in the mainstream React ecosystem
  • No verifiable consensus data on stars, maintenance status, documentation quality, or community adoption is available
  • Could refer to a personal project, a boilerplate, a rendering engine, or a niche tool - without more context, its quality cannot be assessed
  • Names like this are sometimes used for student projects, abandoned repos, or experimental tools that lack production readiness

Recommended for

  • Not recommended without further verification
  • Developers should search GitHub directly, check star count, last commit date, open issues, and documentation before adopting
  • Best suited for evaluation on a case-by-case basis rather than a blanket recommendation
  • If you have a specific repository URL, sharing it would allow for a more accurate assessment

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CustomDomain.ai and React Engine.

What makes your product unique?

CustomDomain.ai's answer

Two things.

First, your users never handle DNS themselves and never hand you credentials. They click once, sign in to their own DNS host over OAuth or Domain Connect rails, and the grant is used once and discarded. We fingerprint the provider from public records, write the exact A, CNAME and TXT records, verify them end to end, and issue the certificate before the first request.

Second, it does not stop at connection. We re-check every domain every hour and re-issue on change, so you hear about a moved or deleted record before your customer does. Most integrations treat a domain as done once it resolves; domains drift.

It is also optional at the edge: serve customer domains from our edge, or verify and hand DNS straight back to your own stack. And there is an MCP server, so AI agents can connect domains the same way your UI does.

i wish i knew about this sooner

got a cold call from some guy who complained about how he couldnt figure out how to update the dns records. researchedand found customdomain as the solution. now i highly recommend to other dev teams.

the product is a widget thats embedded inside our product and has user buy or add existing domain (like the domain that they already own) and then they sign into the place that they baught the domain- like the godaddy or namecheap. and once they sign in, it automatically updates the dns for them and they never had to do anything but sign into the domain provider
